You know I'm a value seeker. I purchased this aluminum hitch rack for my JL today and feel it's a great value for my intended use of hauling trash bags, gas cans, etc.

I got mine at our local farm store, but it is a virtual clone of the one sold at Harbor Freight for $20 more than I paid ($79)

Rated at 500lb with a surface area of 48x20, it is the perfect size for me.

I wanted to show others the tire clearance and what it looks like mounted.

You cannot open the tailgate with this rack mounted.

Lol, "Value Seeker". I live my life the same way. Looks like a great rack. If you had it loaded you wouldn't be able to open the back anyway. my dog would be mad because that's his favorite way in.

I'm not sure how great it is, but I think it's a good value for 80 bucks, for my needs.

I have a full size trailer I use for my kayak and larger loads, but this one should be great for the smaller stuff I don't want inside my Jeep.

Thank you for your review. I was looking at these.

If you can't open the tailgate, then in effect, you can't pack things inside.

You just have to load your vehicle before you attach the rack. once you load the rack you wont be able to open the tailgate anyhow.

I have the same carrier and uses a Kuat Pivot to allow access to the trunk space.
Works well...but limits the weight to 250lb max.

Well mine is "rated" at 500lbs. No way I'd try putting that on it.

I clock in at 200 solid and I guarantee is I stood on one end of it, it would be a tragedy.

I just paid around $200 for a Curt steel carrier. I wanted aluminum on a steel frame since I don't carry much but the steels are rated at 500lb and people are only getting about half that, I'm curious what the aluminum can actually hold.

I only plan on carrying camping equimpent on mine so I can take it off when I get to site to open the rear.

You could probably score a spare tire relocation bracket in the For Sale section here and then you'd be able to open the tailgate.
