MT Bump Start?

Hey all,

Batteries are getting a few years old…but with the million battery posts on here…I am a little concerned about having issues in the not-too-distant-future. Couldn’t find anything on a quick search…I haven’t owned a manual trans vehicle for SEVERAL years. If I get in a bind, is it still possible to bump start (push start) it?

Yes. I've done it in mine just to try it out. My Renegade was a manual and it could be started the same way. Just push (don't hold it down) the start button once, get it rolling and pop the clutch. Should fire right up.

The only caveat is...You need way more momentum then you think you need! Otherwise the high compression of the engine will lock up the rear wheels and you just grind to a stop. It took a few tries to get it right. It's not as easy as it used to be.
