Think with the parameters that you've set, I'm in the diesel crowd. Really good torque at all times, beginning through the end of the trip. Check out some of the YouTube videos about tuners for the diesel also. Getting quite a bit more power and torque with much less turbo lag for around $1k investment. Also, you won't be looking at replacing a huge battery at what I'm sure is going to be a huge price in 8-10 years.

I said I'd never owned a Jeep before and my wife had to correct me. Back in the early 70's I had a 52 Willy's truck, put a 318 Dodge in that one and put a 440 Dodge in a early 60's model Forward Control. I had that Willys for just a few months. From the motor back it started destroying parts and you damn sure didn't want to get over 50 mph in it or it turned into a rodeo. The big 440 in the FC didn't fair any better.
Not my fondest memories, destroyed two classic's. Maybe that's why I forgot.

I have a 4Xe now and ordered a 3.6. I don’t floor the 4Xe ever, but in only battery mode this thing is a blast! Problem is I don’t drive around 20 miles a day or have a level 2 charger. After realizing my electric bill went up $100 a month, the wonky shifting and changing once the battery is dead and I’m averaging like 20mpg, I decided to move on… but man in battery mode it’s awesome

2.0T is fun AF and causes raised eyebrows from sports car drivers watching a Jeep squirt away from a stop light. Added benefit of sounding like a diesel.

Loving the 2.0! It has some pep, great torque off road, and an unexpected 20-22 MPG. I have a two door so YMMV.

3.6 e torque.
A 4xe is going to lose its range yearly and if you plan on keeping it a long time in ten years you will be driving around with a useless battery that adds dead weight and stuck with a 4 cylinder.
would you be able to have the dead battery removed and essentially just have a 2.0T from that point on? if the jeep can drive with a completely dead/useless battery than i would think it should be able to continue to live without it. like having tonsils removed lol.

With all that goes wrong with an Aux battery going dead, I'm sure the computers would freak if the main battery from a 4xe were removed or disconnected.

yep, agree totally. The 4xe is a niche vehicle that most buyers will not find practical. Most people are unable to constrict themselves to less than 26 miles/day??. And as the batteries get weaker over the years, the issue is just amplified!! 4xe will not hold its value, and unless you live in Canada, it is not an economically wise choice.

To me the 3.6 feels the most like an *engine* - sporty, burbly, fun to wring out to redline and reacts in a very entertaining way to manual upshifts under throttle - it crackles/fuel cuts like a German twin clutch box out of something like an Audi S4/S5. It's not the most powerful engine on the planet but it feels at home in the Wrangler even on bigger tires.

The 2.0 feels more like a compliance power solution. Sounds like you're driving a Nissan Sentra. It may be a little quicker when in the boost but it didn't outweigh the feel. It felt soulless, in my eyes at least. Also didn't like how hot it runs under any sort of load or warm/hot day. The cooling fan would ramp up and down like an air raid siren reacting almost realtime with your throttle input. I found the shifts soft even when driving aggressively. I just am not sure I like turbo 4-bangers.

I love my 2.0. Plenty of zip, very peppy and “fun”. Remember though that ANY JL will run off and hide from a TJ or earlier, regardless of what stock engine they may have. (Exception granted for those with a small lock Chevy upgrade)

Don’t want to derail this thread into another battle of the EV’s vs Gasoline vehicles, but there’s a lot of incorrect information in your post. You don’t get just 26 miles per day, PHEV’s have been around for well over a decade and they all hold their values exceptionally well, software changes can increase/improve battery to mileage ratio, and costs of replacement batteries continue to fall every year.

I hate when my 4Xe is on engine (only ish) . It’s loud, clunky… it lurches out of a stop (again this might be a 4Xe thing)
But the 2.0 was never a consideration for me when I ordered my new Jeep. Looking forward to the V6, I’m new to Jeep but I’ve heard the old in-line 6 was the greatest. No personal experience

i like the sound of my V6. i did a muffler delete and i like the sound of it. i also regeared to 4.88 so it gets up and goes making it plenty fun to drive around on the streets.

i dont see any of them being "fun" on the freeway driving at 100mph lol.
