Educate me, where are the 8 cylinders from yesteryear? Why are they almost gone?
You'd have to ask the people that conducted the test.

Edit: There are plenty of 8 cylinder motors, from about 3.8-6.8 liters.

Dang, you can really tell the paid Stellantis folks pushing the 4 banger at the beginning of this thread. The 4 is the greatest engine and most power thing ever created, and if you live on top of Pikes Peak or Mt Rainier its the only choice. The 6 is garbage, buy the 4 and you will be the happiest Jeep owner on the planet, and even Mars. Take your paid forum talk somewhere else.

Think, why are 8 cylinders almost entirely gone? People pay big bucks for the 392, they would also pay big buck for a Smoky and the Bandit Trans Am…….you know the answer!

Hint, it's not because of cylinder count.

I own a 3.6, and live at sea level. But, If I lived at 7,000+ elevation, I think a Turbo would be necessary.
Then again, my 3.6 did pretty good, at 14,000 feet, at Pikes Peak. But, I was concentrating more on surviving the drive, than how much power I had.

My guess is that It's cheaper to build an engine with a turbo and smaller cylinder count than one with more cylinders.
BS…… people will stand in line to buy a real muscle car. Cheaper…..it’s cheaper to buy a Toyota Corolla, so if your logic is logical, everyone would buy a Corolla. An 8 cylinder vehicle will produce more emissions than a turbo 4…..plain and simple. I don’t even know how to use a hammer, but I can read and determine within a great amount of certainty BS. VEHICLES MUST MEET FEDERAL EMISSION STANDARDS……..PERIOD! I don’t know, but maybe an 8 cylinder can meet the standard, hence the 392 price, but the 392 is not a muscle car. Trans Am, Camaro, Chevelle, even Corvette have been replaced with turbos…..lbecause of government control

Obama care killed the junker so thats one reason. Oh, I have one from 1995 in my Bronco as a 347. Don't see to many 2.0 being transplanted into.... anything.

Actually it can't, it carries a $1,500 emissions tax when bought, ask me how I know...

That's a gas guzzler tax it has nothing to do with emissions and everything to do with MPGs.

It's meant to punish the consumer for their poor choices.

Not sure how you jumped that far.

Let's try this again. We agree that government dictates emissions.

See the magenta (pink)? Those are engines with 8 cylinders. Yellow & orange are 10 & 12 cylinders.

Now, at 5.2-liters of displacement there's a bunch of 10 & 12 cylinder engines right in the middle of a pack of 8-cylinder engines. See how the dots are intermixed? If more cylinders = more emissions, They would be significantly above the pink dots, and the orange should be above the yellow.
