Was any drilling required? Can’t tell how the bolts near the pinion go in I don’t have any holes there on mine.
yes, one hole where its flat. once its all bolted up it was fairly easy to drill with skid in place. Ill take a picture when i get home
IIRC, the best protection is with it bolted to the diff. The way the diff is designed doesn't really allow for a U-bolt type on the front. I am running the diff cover/skid as well and it's help up great. I'd have just kept the stock diff, but they did not offer the diff skid only at the time. Been running it for a year and has some wear and tear and no issues at all.
There’s no drain plug cutout correct? I just don’t know how I feel about the gold but there’s not too many black options out there and I do have other MC products it’d match.
I have a 21' model so my drain is on the bottom of the diff actually. Just need to remove skid plate to drain mine. I did paint mine. It has some chips in it from road debris and boulders and you can see tiny bits of the gold underneath, but only if you get down under the Jeep and look.
I just installed the same one last weekend, it's a great product. Went on very easily, only took maybe a half hour. All you really need is an assortment of sockets/wrenches, and a drill with a 3/8" bit, and a couple smaller bits to drill pilot holes so you're not doing all 3/8" at once.

I also own the version that comes with the MC diff cover, it's been sitting in a box for the last 9 months because I never found the time to change the diff cover over. This one for the OEM diff cover is a great solution for lazy people like me.
