Start/stop, start/stop??? Oh yeah, I remember that. I trained my brain very quickly when I got the JL that starting it requires pushing two buttons every time. The start button and the button just to the right to shut off the start/stop. Now it's automatic reflex, don't even think about it.

None... but it pays well.
Driving in Nebraska on I-80 heading to California I found some 93 octane with no ethanol in it. I drove 70 mph and got 19.2. When I bought premium that had 10%-15% ethanol I got about 16 going the same speed. I drove 3,700 miles total, and that's including doing the trail. I averaged 16.2 overall. That's a 19 Rubicon with 3.6, stock gears, 4.5" MC lift, and 37's with beadlocks.
Yeah... pure gas... any octane. 93 is not going to make any difference. If anyone finds a Maverick station, you should find pure gas as an option on some of their pumps. I did not have the JL at the time, but I remember around $5.00 per gallon. Took I-80 recently but would have done the I-50 to Cali.

Well I am lazy and use a Tazer Mini. If I did not have a Rubicon, JScan probably would do all I needed for disabling annoyances.

I know right, jokes aside, that was a one tank run where I was driving slow as hell everywhere. 10 under on City roads, 20 under on the highway.

My top speed that whole tank was 55 mph.

It was fun and the numbers were awesome at the end, but it was a total chore to do it.

My average on my EcoDiesel is like 23/24 MPGs, when I'm driving normally.

Although I haven't done a mile per gallon run since I got my stage one tune, and I also have 35s now, but I haven't adjusted the vehicles computer to them yet.

One of these days. 🤷‍♂️

I will say, though I definitely was able to get my tuned EcoDiesel up to 110 mph, I haven't done it since then. I think the max I'll do is like 90/95 maybe. The average day I'm doing 65 in the slow lane, using my turn signals properly like a grandpa!
Texas is my 3rd favorite state. Good looking women with that wild accent, in Amarillo, on my way to Corpus Christi where I drove an "85 Bronco II right into the Gulf of Mexico shooting a wave about 20' into the air. The highway patrol was pretty cordial when he pulled me over on the highway speeding with a radar detector. He said to me "You better slow it down there, Mr Highway Patrol" and just told my girlfriend to drive. San Antonio had a killer rock-n-roll station as I passed through. I nicknamed Texas "Hell" because it gets so hot down there. The amusement park on the hill in ElPaso was pretty cool too, along with the Taco/Burrito stop. What's that saying down there... "Don't mess with Texas" I think I was 26 at the time.

🤔
I'd have guessed that a box-stock EcoDiesel would've been capable of that speed (though perhaps not very much above it.) Does the oil burner in fact require a bit of e-fiddling to gain access to that particular speed? Just curious.

I know that my 2.0T zips up to 90 MPH with comparative ease...at which point I decided that was quite enough for this old boy. :)

St Paul Minnesota. God damn it gets cold up there!!

Being a Connecticut native and spending a little time in Chicago when I was growing up, I don't miss those cold months at all. Especially Chicago, you haven't felt cold until you felt lake effect cold! I used to have a leather jacket I would wear when we went to New York City or to Boston. The first night we spent walking through Chicago in January of 2003, the wind literally cut through my jacket. We walked into a Macy's in downtown Chicago, where I promptly bought myself a much better jacket, and I ended up giving my leather jacket to a homeless dude cuz it was basically worthless out there.

That being said, I do not miss the cold months up north. More than that, I don't miss raking leaves or shoveling snow. I do miss driving in the snow, but we get our fair share of ice storms down here.  It's close enough, and if I really wanted to, I can always drive up to Oklahoma which is about an hour from me. They get a lot more snow up there than we do.

I love Texas, we got good gun laws, pretty solid economy overall, and only two seasons, hot and wet, sometimes they combine and become humid as fuck!!

That's the one thing I never experienced in Connecticut, if it was 95% humidity in Connecticut, it was raining. In Texas if it's 95% humidity, you're fucked! There's no if ands or buts about it!

So the biggest issue with a stock EcoDiesel Wrangler is that it has governor on it to 98 mph. Honestly at this point I'm not sure if the tuner upped mine to 110 because I was asking him to remove the governor and he wanted to give me something even though he heavily recommended against it, or if it's just part of the tuning package that I purchased.

I guess we'll find out when I buy my stage 2 in a couple more years... And then never install it! :bandit:

If you live near Bucee's or you pass by one, they carry Ethanol-Free 87. Bucky's is about 5 mi south of us, and it's where I buy my diesel fuel and also where I fill up the wife Subaru. I also only put Ethanol-Free 87 the wife's Subaru (if I can help it). It's a little more expensive, but not by much.

I think regular right now is like $3.09, Ethanol-Free 87 is $3.49, and 93 octane is $3.79. whereas diesel is that a nice cheap $3.29, last I filled up! 😍

Understood.

I did something similar, a couple of years ago, when I installed a timing retard eliminator on a Suzuki that I used to own. The TRE provided an honest 25 MPH increase in top speed, which was no small matter on a liter-class sport tourer. I won't fib and say I tested the new limit, but I did enjoy digging a bit deeper into the speedometer on occasion. :)

I feel like mine is quite low

2024 JLUW (24 willys, so rubi wheels/tires basically & 4.10s), 3.6, auto, hardtop, 4k miles

Only mod is an LOD Signature mid-width front bumper w/ apex winch (~110 lbs over stock)

I'm getting ~16.2-16.5 city; 17-17.5 hwy; 16.5-16.8 combined. It wasn't much different before the bumper. I do have 1/2" spacers to put on the front, which may help a tiny bit, but not putting them on for mpg, just to correct ride height.

I don't care much about the mileage as it relates to the cost of fuel, but the range sucks, and another 2-3mpg would make it feel a bit less like I'm always under half a tank / getting gas

I really thought it wouldn't be quite this bad. My old XJ got like 19-20 on 30+ year old technology (I know it weighed less, but it also had a 4.0 I-6 and a 4 speed auto). My previous vehicle, F150 crew cab 5.0 w/ 10spd auto) would push 20-21 on the hwy and 18.5-18.7 combined.

last winter the ice ruts were so deep in the alley behind my house besides myself and some guy with his lifted pick-up we were the only ones who could navigate the alley. One of the neighbors slid their car into the deep ruts their car bottomed out and got stuck. I actually had to put my Wrangler in 4 low to get in my garage. A little challenging but I doubt I would have done it with the 2020 Cherokee Trailhawk. Also I only use the air horn for little kids who do the signal. It makes them happy and usually just scares the kids mom, l.o.l. But I get 9.1 m.p.g. on the Peterbilt
