$55k would be a solid price for a High Altitude today...that would put it right even with base-trim premium SUVs. Unfortunately today $55k barely gets you a base Rubicon. The Rubicon X (which is essentially what the High Altitude was) is $70k. That's very deep into well-equipped luxury SUV territory...which is ludicrous.
Oof, anyone who buys a new Jeep for 70k (not equipped with 392) has a serious addiction/problem 😂.

And bread used to be a nickel...what's your point?
Please go back and read...or perhaps refrain from commenting. I'm getting tired of re-stating the same thing over and over again for those who didn't pay attention.

The High Altitude trim is a bit silly - FCA had this idea that they were going to compete with MB/BMW/Cadillac/Lexus with Jeep SUVs...but that's a stretch even for the GC and GW...to think they could do it with a Wrangler they've got to be smokin' something really good.

But then the MB G-class is even worse - an antiquated, hideous box covered in high-end leather...for $150k. I mean I guess stupid people with money need options too.

They are having to recoup there lost revenue from the EV mandates.
Here in California the only thing on the lot is the 4XE.
That's why I bought a used 2018 Rubicon JL for my wife.
I’d pack my $&@! As fast as could to get out of CA. Beautiful state completely being ruined with stupid mandates. Californian’s coming in droves to my state.

I believe Stellantis is brought more to light here just because it’s a Jeep forum. It’s very apparent by a lot of the comments that many have not priced any other brands lately.
BTW… What’s the price on a new Harley or Polaris UTV?
Excellent points you bring up. But as a matter of fact, I have priced other brands recently. Just today my wife and I were cruising the lot of our local Ford/Ram/Jeep/Dodge dealership. I saw two trucks that were interesting to me, because you don't see them every day. One was an absolute base model XL package F250 regular cab long bed 4x4 with the big gas engine. The other was an absolute base model Ram 2500 Tradesman regular cab long bed 4x4 with the big V8 gas engine. I looked them over and checked the window sticker as well as the tag the dealership hangs from the rearview mirror with their sale price. Both trucks had only one option. The F250 had the OEM off road tire package, which was the same tires and wheels that come on an F250 Tremor. The Ram 3500 had the Chrome Appearance Group. Both options were almost the same price.

Unusual that you see two base model trucks like this. Interesting to me anyway, because these are the kind of trucks I would buy.

Ford F250 sale price = $47K
Ram 2500 sale price = $60K

I just can't understand why Ram 2500s are the slowest selling vehicle in America. The F250 price actually surprised me, because it is less money than an optioned-out Polaris Rzr Pro4

The higher the trim level the more equipped a Jeep is, neither of those brands have anything like my Jeep.

LOL no...GM does indeed build mid-size SUVs, so does Ford, Nissan, Honda, and even Hyundai. This pretend world many of you live in where "the Wrangler has no competition" is not real. In the real world, 90% of Wrangler buyers are coming from unibody mid-size SUVs and will be returning to those when they decide to trade in their Wrangler for something different.

I know many of us are off-roaders and unibody SUVs won't cut it...but we can't pretend that the JL's massive jump in sales is due to a huge part of the population suddenly becoming outdoorsy. No. It's all image. These are all Acadia/Traverse/Pilot/Explorer/Highlander/GC buyers looking to up their "adventurous" image. THESE are the buyers now no longer buying Wranglers because they can buy Cadillac's and Lexus's cheaper.
Is it a jump in sales or Stellantis is in trouble?

For off-roading, especially rock crawling, even a stock Rubicon is pretty decent… without mods of any type. That said, for the majority of owners rock crawling and hard core off roading is occasional at best..which opens the door to many other more recent newcomers (Bronco, Landcruiser, Lexus GX550 OT). For instance a nicely equipped Lexus GX 550 Overtrail with frame on body and nice turbo six is only about $5,000 more than a nicely equipped Rubicon. The Jeep is more capable, but for moderate off-roading that Lexus is sufficient while being vastly superior on the highway and normal driving. While not proven, I suspect build quality of the Lexus will be decent, likely be more reliable long term, and dealer service should not be like a trip to the dentist. For some on this board the Wrangler still rules, but for many of us we’re starting to shop the competition…and Jeep is encouraging us to do so because of ongoing quality problems and a diminishing value proposition. Someone mentioned $1,000 for LED headlights…really Stellantis?

Hey- those Charger EV’s are gettin both “Active Sound Enhancement and Active Vibration System Enhancement to immerse drivers, pedestrians, and other motorists in and around it’s new EV’s into the feeling that it’s being powered by a big, 6.4 liter Hemi engine instead of batteries and electric motors” … C’mon man, the chassis, seat and steering wheel are gonna get vibrated, “the same sensors control speakers pumping in fake engine noise to both the cabin and the outside world.” :like::CWL: 🙄
i hope they have a button for burning rubber smell and maybe shoot smoke out of a hole under the car. Thats part of the mucle car experience.
and if they have been able to create a “drift mode” can they create a “donut mode”? If stella wants to keep selling to the 96-payment street takeover crowd these are must have features!

Well- the problem is that these “features” will all add complexity, weight, and use battery power reducing range.
but yeah- that comes in a far second place too

But I might reconsider if they add a Fake hood scoop, or at least a clear hood bubble with electronic equipment visible like the EV Wrangler prototype, phony heat extractors, and faux exhaust tips (that one may come with the “Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust”)
Wouldn’t that be

Let’s see. Take a mediocre product that people like, whose design costs were amortorized years ago, jack the prices up $8 to $10 k per unit, while doing nothing to improve quality. Have a dealer network with overall poor customer service, and then raise the prices still more. What could possibly go wrong?

If Stellantis wants to increase sales without needing to lower pricing they should:

1) offer in house financing worth a darn like 0.9% for 60 or even 0% 60.
2) up their warranty length
3) make more options available across all trims such as axle/gearing choice. This could allow someone to effectively build a more capable sport model without all the frills some aren't interested in.
4) provide more factory wheel options. They HAVE to know people love their wheels and to have such a limited offering from the factory seems weird. I'd also like to see all wheels be available for any trim level.
5) to go along with #4, have more personalization from the factory particularly on Wranglers. An example would be stitching color. Having color matched stitching options would be sick. They could make a profit off customization and as a consumer it'd be noticeably cheaper than paying for it after the fact.
6) ditch the super mediocre alpine system for something more significant, particularly the subwoofer. Give me some real thump for crying out loud. Heck, there are factory sound systems from 20 years ago that sound way better. While this would require a price bump...it should also be standard. It seems like many people who don't get the upgraded system complain about it with top and doors off. They know jeepers will go naked. Ensure they enjoy the experience.

I'm sure there are other things that could easily boost sales, but those are some off the top of the head things.

And during Covid, there was a bidding war in SoCal, with people paying over $300K for USED ones. Whee! But they probably had better drugs than us to understand the purchase.

You're on to something here. If they gave us all the options, a la carte, including all legacy colors, the brand would be much more interesting. But I think we can all agree the biggest turn off is price. The 'facelift' 2024 is $10-20k more than earlier models of this generation. When I wanted a different configuration, I bought 2 years old because that's the only way it made sense.
Looking on Jeep's site now, there is no XR option except on the 392??
