Did you try all 6 in the kit?

Wasn't me, dealership replaced it. I'd like to think they tried them all but I wouldn't put money on it.

Dude take it back to them. Warranty or not, they didn't fix the problem.

I've been working out of town in Portsmouth, but I'm moving back home next weekend and the dealer can't guarantee they'll have it fixed by then. It's definitely going to another dealer when I get back, I was just wondering if there was anything simple I can check out on my own in the mean time.

Given that only 1 or 2 of the 5 in the kit will work, they probably just tossed 1 in, buttoned it up, and sent you on your way.

So now that I actually have it back, I don't think that was the case. I've put a couple hundred miles on it and the light has been off far more than it's been on. Either way I'm gonna let a dealership back home have a crack at it.

If they continue to let you down, you can get a zautomotive bypass harness. I have a couple I would sell now that my Rubicon is gone.

Hello Jeep Forum.

I've been reading your forum for years and have now registered here. I wanted to say a big thank you and share my experience.

In November 2020 my rear sensor failed and I found this description here. Since the Jeep dealers in Germany have little idea about the Wrangler and the service is usually a disaster, I do it myself.

Without this post I would probably never have solved the problem. After all these years and 70,000km further I can say that doing it was a success. Since then no more errors and everything works. I did a few things differently, you can see them in the pictures. I separated the cover from the sensor with a Dremel and took out the clamp. Then shed the sensor halfway and pushed the clamp back in. Then fill the sensor up to the top.

Everything else I did as shown here by the creator. Both sensors already had oil inside. After disassembling, I washed everything with electronics cleaner.

The sensors have worked without problems since then. I was traveling in a jeep in Africa in the Sahara at 50 degrees Celsius in the shade. And another tour was to the North Cape in Scandinavia in temperatures of -40 degrees Celsius. These temperature differences have no effect on the casting compound either.

I have the new ones in my '23 (Feb build) Rubicon.

This sensor redesign information should be more prominent on the forum - wasted $20 on potting compound .

Well that’s good to see. Agreed, it would be great if the OP could edit the thread title to state that it’s been updated as of Feb 23, or whenever the newest build date is that someone posts. I gave my compound away to a fellow Gladiator owner who needed it.

Good to know there is a re-design. At 4 years and 43,000 miles, I got the rear sensor warning yesterday. I potted both sensors at 1,500 miles. Guess I'm ordering a new one (or 2 if the price isn't rapey).

BTW, that piece you called a "clamp" is the part that forms the magnetic poles of the hall effect sensor.

Anybody got the new part number since the re-design? Are they up to an "AZ" or "ZZ" suffix yet? I sure don't want to order the old part by mistake.

I’m not sure the new sensors are compatible with your diff if it didn’t come with them stock. I haven’t seen the new ones in person but seem to remember someone saying they mount up differently.

My '23 was built in November of '22 so now I'm curious which sensors mine has. I should probably check it out.

I don't feel like pulling the covers and doing an oil change right now. So maybe I'll just pull the fill plug and take a look with my borescope.
