I just installed massive 9 inch lights on my Jeep and on the first day got 3 comments from random strangers on how big they are! Reason I picked them is that I do a lot of off-roading with my Jeep Club in AZ and I’m always upfront. I need strong lights to cut through the dust and to ensure that the Razers flying toward me at 50 mph can see it a mile away.

Question is, are these lights too big for the location? Installing them on the bumper and/or stinger not an option since they’re blocking the headlights and/or the
front camera. I can return them and downgrade to 7 inch lights but that means I’ll be reducing my nearly 40K lumens by 10K or so.

Lights those size would be more appropriate bumper mounted in my opinion. There’s got to be a ton of glare off the hood 🤷🏻‍♂️ These KC Gravity Titans in driving beams work perfect bumper mounted tied into the high beams. They also pass PA state inspection requirements in that location 😉

As big as they they have make noise and turbulence going down the highway.

I think a better way to go is a light bar on the bumper, sort of in front of the winch, not on the hoop which will provide lighting without obstructing air flow through the radiator.

I would also go with KC 6” Slimlites with the optional amber covers, probably on the bumper hoop.

Factory led headlights, two Baja Designs amber combo LP4 Pros on the bumper, and two of their amber squadron pros angled out at a 45 and down on the cowls puts out more than enough light for me.

What brand and model are those lights?

The location, massive brackets, and lens color all contribute to the lights being conspicuous.

I've had 9" lights on my bumper with black covers for a couple years; if anyone noticed, they didn't comment.

Same I keep all my lights covered and the Baja Designs logos are blacked out on the covers. Plus they’re amber and people might think I have a Toyota instead of a Jeep. ,

Aside from the likelyhood of getting a ticket, you really have some blind spots that could be the difference between seeing and avoiding or not, on the trail or street.

I try to do my off-roading when it's moderate to severe clear, with lots of sun, when it's more fun and I can see. Trust me, the views of the Colorado river from the Moab trails is much better in the daylight. My use for strong lights is when I've screwed up the plan for the day or there's an emergency. While I enjoy some challenging wheeling in the rocks, I won't do it if it's dark and I can't enjoy the views.

I am with you. I try to do my wheeling in the daylight. We do occasionally do night trail runs to mix it up a little. Sometimes we will join up with others that are doing a night run with a meal around the fire and have to drive out in the dark.
