The answer to this is very subjective. I've have seen vehicles where there is more light up front than anything else, and then there is stock. Something in the middle is where you want to be.

If you already have the OEM LED package then your lighting is already better than most. I would recommend a pair of A pillar lights at about a 20 degree outward to get some good spread, and a small (12-20") LED bar on the bull bar. A small light bar on the bull bar will take up very little space.
I really appreciate the suggestion!

I love how this is turning into a meme thread. Let's keep it up

Wow, what did I just see? Who puts those big rims on a lifted truck. Then the multiple light bars? Oh my. I can appreciate that someone put a lot of money into their truck, and they're probably very happy with it. Good for them, but definitely not my style.

I'm also a Baja Designs fan. I'm convinced quality of the light beam control is as important as the total light output. Baja Designs is a high quality light. I have 4 S2 pods on my 14 Sierra. They are mounted behind the grill and yet project thru some gaps cleanly. I have 2 wide beam and 2 long range beam S2 lights. They along with the 16-17 factory LED headlights and some Rigid SAE fog lights provide plenty of light for any of my driving in the truck. All the lights are triggered with relays hooked to the high beam switch.

I just got my JLUR a couple days ago and will probably not modify it for a few months. I don't need lights that will support 100 mph driving, just maybe 75-80 mph on dark country highways and much slower off road.

I agree. A well aimed beam is much more effective when driving than a random blast of light that goes everywhere. Who cares what the tree tops look like, you want that beam to go downrange where you're actually driving.

In my experience both on and off road the amount of light you actually need is dictated by the speed you plan to travel. I raced HDRA and have been around California deserts all my life.
The rigs you see running Baja's or Rallu events have huge arrays because they're pushing 100 mph. I had VW W8 that ran 120-140 mph easily but at night near 100 and you couldn't read the road ahead safely.
So I'd say start with the 7". Run an additional wire or 2. And see. I had a 76 Datsun PU I ran a lot in the desert. Not a speed demon and 2 KC Hi Lights on the roll bar were ample .

Somebody mentioned state laws. You need to check those because most states not only limit how many forward facing headlights you can have, but they also regulate the distance they can be mounted from the ground.

For example, here in Kentucky we have some of the most relaxed laws in the country, but even here you are not allowed to have headlights mounted lower than 24" or higher than 54" off the ground, which basically eliminates any possibility of running light bars on the windshield legally.

They also just passed a new law here which went into effect July 1, 2017 that regulates the color of your lights. You can't have anything except pure white. No more fancy blue HIDs and LEDs.

I would say some well aimed ditch lights and a bar would be enough, along with some Led headlights

You have too many lights when want to press aux 4 for the hood-mounted spots and you unintentionally strafe aux 2 along the way as you gently reach around the stick, and by the time you realize it, the 7 searing bulb patterns have started to melt into the covers. I've mentioned that these lights can give you a somewhat of a nice tan.

I'm not saying this happened to me, per se (that would be embarrassing to admit), but let's just consider this a public service announcement that, if you have the Mopar fog lights, be careful. So, now I begin my search for new covers--for a friend.

quality over quantity.

if you buy those cheap ass chinese knockoff's, you will likely need double the light bars to put out the same quality light pattern as just one good quality light bar.
baja designs and rigid are among the best out there. sure they're pricey, but not once you buy all those knockoffs and brackets.

up here, we need light bars to run the highways and back roads due to deer, moose and bear population. almost every tractor trailer combo runs them up and down the trans canada highway. some forget to shut them off when approaching cars.

there is a law saying no more than 4 uncovered front facing lights, so off road lights are supposed to be covered when not in use, but no one covers their light bars. don't think there are covers for them. but i've never heard of anyone getting ticketed for them either.

Ouch, sorry to see this. Wondering how are those lights mounted to the bumper? What bracket do you, I mean your friend use?

They're mounted to an LoD Destroyer bumper...no brackets needed. If you look closely, you'll see 2 additional holes in front of the lights. The area is designed to hold a winch, but I've been undecided on one and I didn't want to leave the space empty. Dangit, I said "I."

Oh, well... guilty as charged.

I like the look of light bars but everyone thinks they are obnoxious. Even the guys in the off road shops think so.
I’m planning on adding rigid cowl lights and lights on the front bumper. Not for off reading. Just looks cool.

Hey... it's your Jeep...do you really care what others think? If you like the appearance of a light bar, that should be all that matters. If someone thinks cowl/A-pillar lights are obnoxious, what then?

I'm originally from NY (30+years) and it's a pretty restrictive state. If you haven't already, you should familiarize yourself with laws around auxiliary lighting. Last I knew, they weren't permitted if they're not factory-installed (that may have changed).
