Looking at picking up some Lux rock lights from infinite off-road for there black Friday sale. Just not for sure how many light so need, I’m thinking atleast one in each wheel well, 2 under each bumper and then 2 more along the frame sides so 12 total. Like your guys opnion on how many should go with could do 2 each wheel well and then same for the rest which gets me 16 total.
Thanks for the input.

The kit i bought had 6 wheel well style, and two strip lights for the sides under the door. I have a 2 door, so I actually ended up only using 4 of the six smaller lights.

What does lighting the top of the tire do? Is there something I'm missing? I get putting them in front and behind the tires, but can't understand putting them on top of the tire in the wheel well.

It shines down behind the wheel by the lower control arm and the shock tower, and you can see where the tire is, and what obstacles are around it, but you can literally put them anywhere that works for you

But so do lights in front and behind, and the light is less hindered by axles, shocks, control arms, tire, and anything else there that might get in the way. In your pic it does not look like much light from the wheel well is making it where you or a spotter could see in the rear.

Not saying it doesn't work, just that it seems like there is a better place that would cast more light.

I don’t disagree with you, those locations work for me,. If i were hard core as opposed to mild over landing, I would add to front and rear bumper. But that’s not what I need. I don’t have a picture from the back or front handy, but I have enough light under the jeep to do what I need. More lights, more visibility, it’s up to you. You could opt to put nothing in the wheel well, but then you have poor visibility on the potential damage to your tires out on the trail. Absolutely, lights at the front and back would be beneficial and provide more light

If you’d like I could grab a rear end picture with the lights on
I just went out to do that, and couldn’t get a good picture of it in the garage, and it’s pouring rain here’s, but I can guarantee you that if you want to see well at the axle, you’ll want lights at the front and rear bumper or even further in towards the axle. Mine provides great side visibility, but not even good front and rear bumper/ axle visibility, but as I said, I’m not rock crawling at night, just easy peasy stuff. The side strip lights work great, but it might be easier to place two smaller lights at the front and back

I used to have some sliders that had some KC lights built in and I always thought that I could use some lights up front and behind. The middle was great. Got rid of them because the sliders themselves were only ok.

KC Cyclone I think is what they were. I always thought they could have been angled down a bit more as well.

I have two of those cyclones under my hood, for light. The infinite off road have those magnets, so easy install, but definitely not as bright

First, think about the rocks below you. Pointing straight ahead isn't going to do much for what's under your tire, and won't help seeing your rear tires. Second, think about the spotter. It'll give them better visibility to place you where you need to be.
