There are a few drop in LifePo4 batteries. The Dodge boys use them in their 392 equiped monsters to drop some weight. Here is a top dog in the drop in automotive battery segment.

There is a Euro company that has a heater built in for below 0 starting power and safe charging at low temps.

I was going to do the battery upgrade, but my mod to use an H8 battery has not let me down. Once the LifePo4 batteries become more main stream, prices will drop and make it more feasible on such an upgrade for me.

$369, with Bluetooth app monitoring/management, an internal heater for cold weather below freezing, and wireless jump starting, if/when necessary.

It looks like prices have already come down.

I am running the H7 with no issues.

None... but it pays well.

I have winch and at times below 0°F weather. Extra capacity is why I run an H8. Most heavy duty trucks have a size comparible or larger. Though my friends GMC Sierra 4x4 has an as an OEM, H6 in a precarious spot. Go figure?

Hmm interesting. Not an option for a wrangler using battery finder search. I have an 80 amp which is same as H8. Does the H8 fit the.footprint? I run a Warn winch.

I only recomment the H8 mod for those who have the time to dig in and make some changes. The fuse box removal is a time consuming thing most don't want to mess with.

If you are really good with a heated hobby iron with cutting blade attachment, you could bypass the fuse box removal by heat cutting the plastic step from the stand. keep the removed part if you like for reverting to the H7 or H6 battery. The only thing that will be difficult in leaving the fuse box in place is the Aux battery cabling. Though you will also need to unwrap or cut the cable harness to remove the Aux cables... some areas its best to unwrap, as you'll need to be a contortionist.

I did the H8 soon after removing the Aux battery and its cables. I noticed a few things Jeep did to limit use of a single large battery. The frame to the air filter housing and a 2" wide step built into the fuse box stand, that covers the top of the Aux battery. You can utilize the frame by modding it for battery fitment. I found the frame usless like the reinforcement under the battery. The body is very stoute under the battery, the plate is not much of a battery tray. Though I left it in place

Making the room required was not all that difficult, just removing all the Aux battery stuff took some time. I was able to utilize the existing cables, but required a little adjustment to the IBS and its wires, to allow for fitment of the post distance. There are some battery post extenders to allow less fuss, but it too was not that difficult.

All in all it fits a little tight, and a pain to pull out due to Rubicon height. Though my friends Sierra was just as bad with an H6. HA! Almost a two person job.

There are some differences on batteries.... the post distances can be a little longer than others. As for case size H8 and others usually stay within spec for fitment. I have seen odd case tops that can be in the way of factory cabling routing.

There are two different standards of batteries. Hot and dry climate and cold climate. Walmart sells an H8, which I have... but mine is lower cranking power over higher capacity do to selling to colder climate areas. Texas for example will have higher CCA with lower capacity than mine. Case size is the same. Top may be slightly different. Usually its a manufacturer or a plate stack requirement.

Did you pull the trigger on this battery or any other lithium? Is so which battery and how's it been working for you?
Burt, not yet. Probably soon, though.
