Use a good cleaner... I prefer Dawn, warm water and a rag to remove oily build up. Let dry and clean with an alcohol wipe and let dry. Use a matte leather sealent to restore the over all look. Once dryed it should feel smooth and not have the slick feel of before.
I would never use Dawn on leather as it dries it out far too much. On my saddle and bridle, I was taught to wash it with literal "saddle soap", more suds than water. It's basically a very mild glycerin soap, similar to plain Neutrogena.

That having been said, pretty much all parts of my vehicle that are plastic or leather get wiped down with Armor All and look brand new. Folks comment that the fenders and bumpers of my 2006 are faded, but they are not. They have always been tan to match the hard top and the original khaki paint.

Me too. All these different materials I'm going coo coo. 😆

I'm trying to think of what material the steering wheel in my 77 Lemans was made of. Steel with a plastic coating I think....?
Likely- when did plastic become a thing ? The 50’s, I think. I have seen a broken original Jeep steering wheel, it was metal bars with a hard rubbery coating.

It just seems that they keep making changes to the wrangler and keep cutting things out. It really stinks.
Where are you seeing this, steering wheel construction notwithstanding? The recent Wrangler refresh was additive: additional air bags, a redesigned head unit with a 12" screen, optional power seat, new alloy wheel designs, anti-rollover bracket in front pax wheel well, etc.

Why did he get banned?
OJ (ha) likely got the boot because of his ever-increasing defensiveness when the content of his posts was even innocently remarked upon by other members. This was the guy who'd include his long-winded resume almost every time he participated in a thread. It got tiresome, and some folks said as much. Maybe he finally let loose in some manner to the point that even Site Mgmt. had enough.

I only use dawn on dishes. 😉
I was a cub DIYer, happily using Dawn as a cheap & cheerful substitute for car wash liquid, when I realized that Dawn was very effectively stripping the polish that I had previously and laboriously applied to the paint.

Lesson learned. 😬

@Flip - BTW- very admirable of you to admit having a Lemans and not putting phony GTO badging on it, as was common.
I read an article yesterday about Ford expanding the “”Mustang” line with 4drs etc. doesn’t the “Mustang” Mach e bastardize the badge enough ?

Ha. I talked a high school buddy out of doing that very thing with his dad's 196x Pontiac LeMans. Sorry, I don't remember the exact model year, but that was the vehicle on which I learned to do a wicked brake torque launch. No, we never mentioned that to his dad, either. ;)

GTO’s were my favorite victim for my L-79 Corv-illys 63 😏 with no possibility (rare) of an L-78 (425HP 396) like Chevelles and Camaros might have. 😁

Seriously? Probably for the same reason(s) other people get banned. Violating established forum rules. Banned members basically ban themselves.

Good ol’ Bakelite steering wheels. GM used that crap for a long time. It was durable and easy to clean, but didn’t hold up over time.

Most people wouldn't like real open pore latigo leather for a steering wheel cover. It allows skin oils, burger and fries grease and taco sauce to penetrate it, and eventually, it stinks. I'm cool with my pleather covered steering wheel. Whatever foaming interior cleaner I'm using cleans it nicely. I used to clean my truck's pleather steering wheel with my cowboy boot cream.
But if you ever rolled your Jeep and were trapped in the drivers seat you could survive on the burger/fry/taco sauce flavored latigo leather jerky until help arrived.

If they say we're paying for leather and it's not then that would be excellent grounds for a lawsuit.

I haven't quite been following this thread. My leather wrapped steering wheel is wrapped in leather. Are people claiming their leather wrapped steering wheels aren't wrapped in leather?
Not 100% sure, but I think OP is claiming only the '24 MY or maybe only the Rubicon X has a fake leather wheel.

I'm guessing either they're mistaken or that Jeep decided to only give the "premium" wheel to X owners, which doesn't make sense imo given the trim has Nappa seats standard. But.. if you look at the standard feature list of the X, it doesn't state "leather-wrapped steering wheel" anywhere and only says "premium-wrapped" and "heated", so it's entirely possible this is a weird '24/X design choice (or oversight) and not necessarily false-advertising on their part. If so, I agree that it's a stupid and cheap cost-cutting thing for Jeep to do, at least on any trim that otherwise includes leather seats, whether standard or optioned.

Can you look at a '24 X build sheet and find "leather-wrapped" anywhere?

Kinda like “Premium McKinley” with no mention of leather ?

If we're talking favorite car ever, mine is the '71 Javelin. I will never forget seeing that car in an indigo color when I was a kid and later looked up what it was.
