This might be where the confusion is
Possibly. But, as you can see in my chat, I specifically mention Sahara. If they are selling that DRL bulb specifically for the Sahara and Rubicon and it requires a load resistor, then the web site should say so in the bulb description.

Yes, the Sport can use a switchback bulb that Oracle (and others) sells that has what's needed built in. I have a set from another company installed on my Sport Altitude.

Yes you would think they would and should include this in the description so with there confusion I will likely pass on them for bulbs.

And it’s not that installing the resistors is an issue but I know they get very hot and there’s not a lot of room in that area behind the fender flare and I don’t want to take a chance on melting wires and adding the resistors just adds another possible failure point.

Hi Will,

JP here from Product Development. I'd like to start by apologizing for the misinformation given surrounding this topic. We'll be addressing that internally to better serve our great customers! Allow me to clarify a few things here:

1. No JL or JT Sahara or Rubicon models need resistors or "canbus decoders" for the front signals - The only bulbs that require resistors are the Stop/Turn bulbs in the tails.
2. The CK bulbs we offer for the Sport models do not have "Built in Resistors"
3. I see the bulbs you originally bought which hyper-flashed were of the "canbus compatible" type. The issue here is that the IC built into these bulbs are showing the Jeep something it does not need to see which is likely what is causing the error which cannot be cleared with the JSCAN.

Simple 7443 LED bulbs will do the job here for the signals without the need of resistors. Here's a link to ours in amber: https://www.oraclelights.com/collec...ignal-bulb-single?_pos=4&_sid=5074792b1&_ss=r

I hope this helps & we can earn your business in the future! Feel free to PM me with any other questions/concerns.

Cheers!

@JP_Oracle, just a quick FYI. The link you reference above is for the turn signal bulb which is amber, but the picture is of the white bulb. The opposite is true for the DRL bulb which is white, but the picture is of an amber bulb.
Hi David,

Actually, our diodes are white with a clear film for every color except for white, which has a yellow film over the diode. Without getting too deep in the weeds here, an LED's color wavelength is based on the semiconductor material and amount of "doping" when forward biased.

White is the only color that cannot be produced in this manner, so the LED is tuned to a spectral wavelength of blue, then offset into white with a yellow film.

Some companies do the same for amber with an orange film. We do not do this.

Hope that clarifies!

JP thanks for chiming in, so what you are saying is if I order the bulbs you linked they will be amber turn signal even though the pic shows white and they will work with my JL Sahara with no resistors and should not have to set to LED with JSCAN or is it still necessary to make the change with JSCAN.

In regard to the bulbs I originally tried the driver side worked fine but the passenger side hyperflashed and threw a dash error even though it worked normal outside so I sent them back

Well I exchanged a few emails with JT from Oracle and he assured me that the LED bulbs he linked will solve my hyper flashing so I ordered them and will keep you posted on the outcome here, I figure I will have them in a few days at least that’s my hope for what Oracle charges for shipping in two bulbs

If they work as I hope I will have complete LED’s for a decent price and so far the biggest investment on the Winjet Renegades has worked well as they look really good.

I also have be eyeballing those Oculus alot but I am having a hard time justifying the expanse
I have a pair. Hands down the best headlight for the JL on the market. Nothing else, in my opinion, compares.

The light output is phenomenal. The cut off is amongst the best, if not the best, I’ve ever seen in any LED headlight.

Well worth the expense.

Did you tap into the fuse box for the DRL ring and did you have to adjust the beam height ?

I tapped into the fuse for the cigar lighter. I forget the fuse number off the top of my head.

I only needed to adjust the passenger side very slightly to match the driver side after installing. I haven’t had a need to touch them since, even after going to 33 inch tires. Oracle has them aimed for stock sized tires right out of the box.

I used solder sleeves and extended the wires on the resistors. Ran them outside of the fender area to right behind my front of my grill for heat reasons. So far no problem.
