My car at times is not sensing the key fob. It happened to me once last year when it was cold outside below 35°. And again this year has done the same thing when the weather was roughly the same. But has happened again while i was in reverse. the car all of a sudden just stops and the foot panels got stiff and i couldn't move. The key fob was in my lap but car says key fob not detected. I had to turn the car off and restart it and thankfully it worked after that. Has anyone else had these issues and is there a way to fix it.

Definitely a key fob battery issue. I had to replace both batteries for each Jeep, even though mine is driven FAR more than my wife’s Jeep. The fobs are constantly transmitting a signal, even when the Jeeps are not in use. As soon as the weather dropped 30 degrees here in FL, both started malfunctioning, so I went on Amazon and ordered the batteries.

We got about 1.5-2 years out of each key fob battery, before needing to replace them.

I agree that the fob's battery, 2450, should be replaced as a logical first step here.

I recently replaced the Jeep's original fob battery. At 39 months old, or just a tick over 3 years, it provided the shortest service life of any fob battery that I've experienced. I've a Sport, which means a buttonless fob, and with that in mind I was absolutely expecting a longer run time. Perhaps that's just the way it will be.

By way of comparison, I concurrently replaced the [noticeably smaller] 1616 battery in the fob for one of our Hondas (which does have buttons.) That one was no less than 11 years old. It still worked, too, but the response rate, so to speak, had become sporadic and at that age it certainly didn't owe me anything.
