Holy crap, that was the problem!!!
It's only a problem on most of the vehicles out there. There were vehicles built that had right hand threaded (clockwise) lug nuts for the right side of the vehicle and left hand threaded (counterclockwise) nuts for the left side. I think this tendency faded out with Chrysler being the last holdout around 1975. I think GM quit around 1965.

That is exactly Why we all carry around both 4' and 6' cheater bars , just in case .

They are also very useful to pry our Jeeps off of big rocks when they get stuck on top .
Well, that plus small amounts of high explosives...

I generally only take a spare when I'm going out of town (keeping only a compressor/Slime in the car normally). It's never happened, but when I do get a flat locally, I'll just Uber home and grab the spare, or have my wife run home and get it. We don't really have potholes here, so folks generally only get blowouts if they are driving on bald tires (which I don't do). I don't see the point of incurring the space/weight/fuel economy hit lugging something around that I've never needed in 22 years of driving. I'd rather just deal with 10 minutes of inconvenience in the rare event I do need it. Road trips are a different story though; I always bring a full-size spare, because Murphy's Law says if you are going to get a flat, it'll be on a Sunday on a rural highway with a 4hr wait for roadside assistance.

I do get screws/nails in my tires at least once a year, but that's always been a slow leak. I just take it to the shop across from my work and they patch the tire for $20.

A couple of years ago, I had a flat on a utility trailer on I-45 while headed to Dallas. The tire did not have many miles on it, but the valve stem had failed which caused a very quick massive air loss and then the tire itself self-destructed. Because the trailer had steel rims, I was able to limp down the side of the highway until the next commercial area and replace the tire with basically no damage to the steel rim. And, of course, I didn't have the spare tire for the trailer with me at that time and it most definitely did not use the same size tire as my pickup. I think it used a Chevy rim.

I knew a guy once who was vacationing in the Big Bend area and it was so hot that he one tire fail and the next day, another one fail. He was driving a Suburban.

Whats a decent air compressor to carry around in a Jeep? I'd like one that can air up a tire fast enough, but have a duty cycle that would allow for more than one tire at a time to be aired without the unit having to cool down.

Does it also have a built in third brake light like the JCR Offroad one? I like the look of this one.

Also do you have a part number or link to their website, I can't seem to find it?

I ran with no spare for a few years on my JK and liked it. I could actually see out the rear window and I like how it cleaned up the rear of the jeep. I had a tire repair kit, compressor, and a can of slime but never needed any of it.

Honestly, I'm becoming even more convinced that this will be my plan.

I ordered the ORO third brake light/ tag light mount with it when I ordered it and it mounts right up just like the picture above. I used the same light on my JK with no complaints. Here is a link to the tag mount https://www.motobilt.com/jeep-jl-spare-tire-delete-tag-mount.html . Let me know if you have any other questions.

A 20-lb CO2 tank will give you quite a few tire refills. I've even used a 20-lb BBQ propane tank to refill my tires sometimes. If you look at the fix-a-flat type products, they often use propane as the propellant to fill the tires. I've also used a SCUBA tank with a 1st stage regulator modified to have an air-chuck on it. I used a spare steel-72 SCUBA tank, so that's 72 cu-ft of air in there. With a 20-lb CO2 tank, you're looking at 175 cu-ft of gas, IIRC. Figure the volume of your tires and the pressure you plan to air them up to and you can see how many fills you can get.

I seem to remember some spark plug adapters where you removed a spark plug and it would allow you to use that cylinder to inflate a tire (or perhaps even run air tools). In a pinch, that would provide a good backup to a CO2 tank.

I have a Tesla and a Bmw Z4 neither has a spare tire but again I do carry a flat repair kit and a mini air compressor Tesla and Bmw sells.
My Rubicon has a spare and I will keep it again its a (personal choice).

Do what makes you happy.

So, you're just going to assume / hope that you never get a flat tire?

I've had brand new cars get flats within a month of buying the car. It seems that brand new tires attract sheetrock screws on the roads. :)
If he's just driving around town, having no spare shouldn't really be an issue. The 'Jeep Wave' program you auto-enroll into when you buy a new Jeep comes with roadside assistance services for two years IIRC.

Yes, it does take longer and make you look less manly having to call roadside assistance for a flat tire, but in the end, it is more convenient.

Roadside assistance will assume you have a spare , correct ? If you don't have a spare , what do you expect roadside assistance to do ? Tow you home to your spare ? If he tows you home to your spare , do you then expect roadside assistance to change your wheel ? Very funny .

Even funnier , some quick air compressors insert into the power outlets , which will drain your battery in a quick hurry . Then you will need another tow back home for your spare battery .

Even military tracked vehicles have spare track sections stowed on the side .
