Ok I know lots of people have had issues with these e torque systems. I have a JLU Rubicon Recon with the 2.0LT. Has 36,000 miles on it, had it exactly 2 years. Only electric add on is a light bar and it’s been used once this far. About a week ago I started seeing a message on the info screen saying Aux switches temp unavailable battery charging. Have not had any issues starting until yesterday and it was acted like it wasn’t going to start but did. CEL came on. This morning I had to jump it. Battery voltage with engine on does not drop below 13.9v at idle. Did take it to Autozone to get the 12v battery tested. Tester said the battery was defective. Bad battery after two years? Anything else it could be? Maybe the 48v battery or the gen/motor? The start stop still works just fine when I have it on. 99% of the time I disable it tho as soon as I jump in the car. Any thoughts? Just think it’s BS to have a bad battery after two years when I’ve had cheaper autozone batteries last 5 -6 years.

My original MOPAR battery lasted 1 year. They replaced it under warranty and then the next one only lasted 2 years.

If my understanding is correct, The 2.0 is NOT an eTorque motor with the 48 volt battery. You have a failing aux battery that the eTorque system does not have. If you are on original batteries, it's probably time to change them both. The eTorque systems are not the ones having the issues. It's the ESS motors with the little AUX battery.

Depending on how often you drive the Jeep, a 2 year battery lifespan could be expected.

I suggest the following rule of thumb:
If you do not drive at least 5 days per week for a distance of at least 5 miles each day, you need to put a trickle charger on your battery when it is not being driven to prevent a reduced battery lifespan.
This applies to ALL modern vehicles, it's not just a Jeep thing.

The vehicle that you saw a 5-6 year battery lifespan in did not have the always-on modern features that the JL has. When it was off and parked, it really was off and nothing was using the battery. That's not how vehicles are designed anymore.

There was to my understanding two models of each engine. With and without the etorque system And that only came on models with automatics. I heard from some were that only the Sahara had the system but that is BS. I CAN confirm that the 2020 Recon has the etorque. That’s the only offering they had for the system was the 2L ETorque with 8 Speed. I tried to get one built with the 3.6 manual. Wasn’t happening.

It’s my daily driver / have some random sometimes fun. I have a TJ for the rest lol. Yeah I didn’t consider all the new crap they put in these cars. Guess I’ll be swapping the battery in my wife’s van next year LOL.

Not sure which size battery you have (48 or 94R), but NAPA currently has 20% off. If you sign up for rewards, this will qualify for 2 x $5 rewards.

It’s not rocket surgery, you just need a new battery. No big deal. The OEM batteries are terrible.

I got it swapped out after trying to leave work and having to jump it off the fork lift LOL. 200+ for a damn battery. AGM non AGM, for start and stop or not start and stop….. WTF. Anyways yeah she is good now. Afterwards all my apps and crap on the Uconnect was gone. They ended up coming back. But shit hey my WiFi works again!!!! That shit hasent worked in several months. My Rubicon startup flash screen is gone for whatever reason but whatever.
