Interesting, it must be the mods and options, as I have the same rig with the same mileage and they were offering 54K this week for it.
Stock - no mods

Before I got my Jeep, I looked at getting rid of my Outback lease through Carvana, they offered 2k more than the vehicle buyout price. It was easily one of the worst experiences of dealing with a company I have ever had, chalked with misinformation and 4 hour call wait times. If people really want the nitty gritty I can go into further detail, but the process sucked and I didnt go through with it.

I have this feeling the company has blown up and they don't have enough employees/knowledgeable employees to keep up with their business. I have heard other people have good experiences with them though, so it seems pretty hit and miss.

I had both a wonderful and terrible experience with one of these companies regularly mentioned here... I was a repeat customer, first time was great and the second time ended with a NDA attached with a settlement.

You left out the part about record gross profits and the stock rallying almost 30% on the news. It's not uncommon for e-commerce companies to operate at a gross profit / net loss in the early stages. They need to establish their brand and grow market share first. Once companies hit critical mass and the real market players are established, then they focus on improving net profitability. Just like Google operating at a loss for years while it was competing versus 20 search engines.
The reason Vroom pays more for used vehicles is because it is buying market share. But just because it worked for Google doesn’t guarantee it’s going to work for Vroom.

The jury is still out whether Vroom is the model of the future. Consumers are showing that, given the choice, they prefer to kick the tires before buying. And dealer associations have powerful friends in state legislatures across the country.

Ultimately, the Vroom business model will only win if investors are willing to continue backing the stock as it weathers the headwinds.

I had a similar experience with Carvana when I was looking to buy a used JL, before buying the new JL I now have.

It was 10 days of long call waits and talking to a dozen different people. I got a different rep every time I called, so I had to start all over again. Too many chefs in the kitchen not talking to each other.

The last straw was when my bank transferred the funds and a week later Carvana still didn’t know where the money went...

I had to call off the deal.

2020 Rubicon JLU w/13K miles. Sticker 60,500, paid $55k. Vroom offered $45k which seems way off from what others have gotten here.
Sounds about like my experience with Vroom. I just finished getting a quote from them for our 2020 Bikini Pearl Recon with 17k miles and in prestine condition. MSRP when we bought it 12 months ago was slightly over $58k. They just offered me $47,460. I had a similar offer a few weeks ago from them. No, thanks.

I wasn't looking to sell it, just curious what they'd say with all of the high dollar offers I've been reading about on here.

I have a 2019 Sahara
2.0T
selectrac
leather
cold pack
basically loaded minus safety sensing stuff.
9,000 miles

I got it new for around $40,000 USD because I'm in Canada and our $ is crap. I wonder how I could cash in on this spike in used values in USA and our poor $. The issue is getting it over the border, guessing that would eat up 2-4 grand alone...

Decided to plug in my JKUR to Carvana.

Paid $34,980 on sticker price of $40,820. The trade in value is currently higher than it’s original MSRP.

I ordered a 2021 JLUR last week after getting quotes from Carvana and Vroom for my 2026 JKU with 90k miles. Sticker was $37k, paid $33.5k. They'll give me $27k. I was planning on keeping for a couple more years but figured now is a good time to upgrade.

Yes they are! Just sold my '20 JL Sport for $3250 more than I paid for it brand new and factory ordered a new '21 JLR for 6% under invoice.

I would be extremely tempted to let them have it.

I think the offers are pretty strong on lightly equipped models. Once you add mods or lots of equipment the deals seem good but not great. I looked at trade in value on KBB for my loaded 2020 Recon with 8,500 miles. Indicated value was only $1,000 less than I paid. But I also have $8,000 in mods- tires, lift, lighting, skids, winch. They don’t pay much for that stuff.

Just now, Carvana offered me $35k and Vroom offered $41k for my 2019 JLR for which I paid $40k and have put 31k miles on. I have no intention of selling but it’s good to know that I’m quite a ways from being under water on this jeep.

And now I’ll go deal with the deluge of emails I’m about to get ... thanks for piquing my curiosity, assholes!

And this is my 1000th post!
