Some people have great luck with manuals. Others (like me), not so much. We speculate that the quality control on them is worse than usual since people have driven multiple new manual JLs and realized that they each can behave significantly differently.Soooo after viewing these threads Iām actually contemplating backing out of my ā25 manual JL order.
it just doesnāt seem worth the hassle and the headache.
is it really that bad with the new manual JLs?
Not a problem at all. That is what the forum is for, right?Thank you for taking the time to record that! That seems like it. I canāt imagine having that and leaving the auto start-stop on. I just wanted to make sure itās normal for the Wrangler and not causing damage from something being unbalanced.
Honestly, if this behavior is making you consider backing out of your order, I recommend not buying a Wrangler at all. This vibration/shudder goes completely unnoticed in my day-to-day use of either Wrangler; there are MUCH greater vibrations/noises just driving pretty much any vehicle down the highway, let alone a Wrangler. If this minor vibration bothers you, you will HATE driving the Wrangler.Soooo after viewing these threads Iām actually contemplating backing out of my ā25 manual JL order.

nah I wasnāt saying just this thread. Thereās been a couple but from what Iāve heard from the dealer, the new JLs being built have a new transmission from the earlier models so Iām hoping I get lucky. Not a problem at all. That is what the forum is for, right?
I just wanted to understand what exactly you are talking about. This occurs on both my 2018 and 2025, so yea, I would say it is normal and not to worry about it. I am a little bit surprised you noticed because the "shudder" is so subtle that I hardly notice it at all; I thought you were describing something much more violent. Interestingly, this vibration is much less noticeable on my manual Camaro SS, so it does appear to be a characteristic of the Jeep.
However, it makes total sense that you wanted to check to see if it was normal, as abnormal sounds/vibrations could be a sign that something is wrong, so I understand why you wanted to check into it.
By the way, from the sounds of it, most people disable ESS anyway due to its annoyance and lack of real-world benefits. Even when I do seldom use ESS, this vibration doesn't bother me at all; I just attribute it to normal vibration when any engine shuts off, even if other cars don't do it.

That being said, I recommend just hopping in a manual Wrangler at the dealership and just test out the vibration for yourself. That is the only way to know for sure.
Again, I think we are making a mountain out of a mole hill here. There is nothing wrong with this behavior. OP just wanted reassurance that nothing was wrong with his particular Wrangler because he wasn't used to it.
yeah the test drive I took was pretty short so we will see how it goes!I would recommend taking one for a long test drive.
I have an 2018 JL that's manual, but mine doesn't shutter when turning it off when I can get it to turn off.Does anyone with a manual get a shutter when they shut it off? Dealership says itās ānormal for the manual.ā By shutter, I mean it visibly shakes when I shut it off. Itās a 24 and itās done since new. Additionally, what could cause it? Thanks!
Iād be willing to bet they do what op was trying to describe if they had the stock clutch and flywheel. He was feeling the dual mass flywheel harmonicsIāve had a 21, 22 and a 25; all manuals and none shuttered when turning them off.
