I agree that the removal of the engine cover appears to be yet another reduction in value Jeep buyers seem to be getting, even if the benefits of the cover are somewhat debateable re: performance/comfort. And it feels even more raw since prices just keep going up. However, unless the cover is on the window sticker as an explicitly offered option, I don't see how it can be argued that it was part of the price paid for the vehicle.

There are so many little tweaks that all auto manufacturers make during span of production runs of vehicles and that is a decision that is completely up to them to make.
The cover is part of the engine, not a separate listed part.

Retired from Corrections....I have stories.
I used to see a lot of JKs on the road. Seems like I see fewer and fewer of them. Now I mostly just see JLs. I understand older jeeps are still on the road but there are fewer of them. How many square headlight jeeps do you see on the road? Not very many.
start looking for XJ jeeps they are everywhere. TJ are everywhere.

Can't tell you..shhh
you can easily find 20+ year old jeeps on the road every where. Heck you don’t even have to look hard to find 30 year old jeeps being daily driven and wheeled on the weekends.
I have a 25 year old TJ sitting in front of my house that is still banging away.

I never said there weren’t any left. I said you don’t see many of them. Once again you guys are blowing this out of proportion just to try and prove me wrong.

Huh. Irony. Cool.

A lot of things are blown out of proportion in this thread.

I see no reduction in price for it
I would hazard a guess and say that the fluctuating price of steel and aluminum is more responsible for the Jeep's price increase than the lack of engine cover.

This was over a year ago and Jeep raised the price because they could. Remember when car prices skyrocketed, even used cars. Price went up merely because of scarcity alone.

Oh... Just because they could...

I wish I could say that when I send out quotes with sky high prices...

You said " Wait about 10 or so years if it lasts that long. " And, within 20 miles of Loveland Ohio, there are 22 very nice older TJ's for sale not to mention how many are on the road and not for sale. If you don't want to be proven wrong, don't say things that are blatantly wrong. The point is, there are still tens of thousands of jeeps that are way more than 10 years old that are still chugging along. You don't see "many" of any car that is over 20 years old on the road so that kind of makes your insistence that it is a jeep thing more of a whine than an actual fact. "Blowing out of proportion" is making such a huge deal out of a basically non functional plastic engine cover not being on your jeep.
First World Problems I guess

I kind of like having a job, so I can afford a Jeep.

Soon you won’t be able to. They are already pushing up to $100,000. The people that normally were wanting to and buying them already can’t afford them.

How far out of your way did Hugo just to chew me out? I rarely see TJs driving around here. I know they are still out there, I just don’t see many driving around. Drop your insanity.
