I wasn’t talking about the guys working on the line. Jeep knew what they did and could have notified me before the Jeep was built. It took them 3 months before they built it. Jeep didn’t want to lose the sale. Jeep doesn’t care.
Dude, I get you. That engine cover adds 69HP (perceived). You are right to be pissed off. I'll sell you the one off my buddy's Jeep, super cheap, you pay shipping.

I would suggest the 5th Gen 4 Runner. Good luck.
I'm partial to the LC250 and that would be the only thing that could pull me away from another Jeep next time I'm ready to buy.

And that is if it prices out better than the 4Xe Willy's I've got in mind.

Wait about 10 or so years if it lasts that long.
you can easily find 20+ year old jeeps on the road every where. Heck you don’t even have to look hard to find 30 year old jeeps being daily driven and wheeled on the weekends.

@John Benoit
Sorry bro, I broke into my buddy's garage to get you that coveted engine cover only to discover that Jeep bent him over the barrel too. I keep an eye out for you though.

Freedom of speech is one of the most misapplied concepts. The 1st amendment is a Constitutional limit on the Federal Government's power to restrict free speech. It restriction also applies to state/municipal governments via Sec1 of the 14th amendment.

It should in no way be interpreted to imply that private citizens, companies, or non-governmental agencies restricting speech. In fact, individual rights to restrict free speech in private venues should be celebrated. If you had a posting board at your place of business or home and I wanted to post something offensive there, should YOU be forced to host my speech because "freedom of speech"? Of course not.

Obviously we want to create an environment that allows people to say what they want and speak their mind but on the other hand, it isn't a "right".
I agree. Freedom of Speech is geared towards government. I would tell others they are not free of consequences for talking to individuals how ever they please. It can easily come at a personal price.

I remember when I had my second oil change and happened to notice no engine cover. I went back to the dealership and they thought they screwed up. They said they would look for it. When I got home I read that Jeep deleted it. I drove back up to the Jeep to inform that Jeep just eliminated it for my year. I really didn't care. It has never affected anything on my Jeep. Probably better to not have plastic on top of the engine anyway. To this day, this is the best Jeep I've ever had and I've had 6. I swore off them after death wobble in 2019. I went to the 4 Runner and it's by far a better built and reliable vehicle, but I love to modify my vehicles and the Jeep is a way better platform for that. I also don't think Jeep cares about your survey. It sucks that you are unhappy with your vehicle, but you can just trade it in on something that fits your needs better. I would suggest the 5th Gen 4 Runner. Good luck.
You are missing the point, you paid for the cover. That cover probably cost Jeep $50, multiply that by just say 100,000 vehicles, that works out to about $500,000. By the way, your intake manifold is plastic. Have a nice day.

I was just trying to say it didn't matter to me. This is now just such a stupid argument. Sell the Jeep and never buy again. Have a nice day.

And BTW, that works out to about $5 million. And on my build sheet I don't remember it saying engine cover.

I used to see a lot of JKs on the road. Seems like I see fewer and fewer of them. Now I mostly just see JLs. I understand older jeeps are still on the road but there are fewer of them. How many square headlight jeeps do you see on the road? Not very many.

You still don’t get the point. Shortly after I ordered my Jeep, Jeep raised the price $6000. The cost of the engine cover was already figured into the price of your Jeep. You paid for it but didn’t receive it. If you are that gullible, I have some stuff to sell you. Send me the money and you won’t receive the stuff.

I think you missed his point.

I special ordered my Jeep; it has an engine cover on it. However, no where during the order process was there a selection for an engine cover. No where in my paperwork listing the items in the package nor the options I selected indicated an engine cover. No where in my price breakdown was an engine cover noted. There was no reference to an engine cover in my build sheet, nor on my window sticker.

Don't get me wrong. I am sure the cost for that was accounted for in my purchase price, since I received one. But you are not the first one to NOT receive an engine cover, nor is this a new thing just based on posts in jlwranglerforums alone. So how do you know you paid for one? What paperwork do you have that documents you paid for it? Sure the price of your Jeep may have increased by $6,000. But that doesn't mean that an engine cover was included in that.

Of course, if you do have something that shows an engine cover was part of your order and purchase price, then I apologize. I just know I got no documentation of it.

I agree that the removal of the engine cover appears to be yet another reduction in value Jeep buyers seem to be getting, even if the benefits of the cover are somewhat debateable re: performance/comfort. And it feels even more raw since prices just keep going up. However, unless the cover is on the window sticker as an explicitly offered option, I don't see how it can be argued that it was part of the price paid for the vehicle.

There are so many little tweaks that all auto manufacturers make during span of production runs of vehicles and that is a decision that is completely up to them to make.

I see no reduction in price for it. The engine covers were deleted on November 11, 2022. My Jeep was built on November 23, 2022. They did not reduce the price I paid for the deletion of the cover or any of the other parts they deleted.
