There are a million threads on the 2.0 vs. 3.6 subject. Having read so many of them I have come to the (obvious) conclusion that it comes down to personal preference. Advocates on both sides will plant their flag and say their engine is best and the other is crap for x, y, and z reasons. Reality is that forums generally attract strong opinions in both directions, though a lot of useful helpful hints are also to be found. On the engines, having now owned two JLs with 3.6s and no issues, I very much like it. One of my brothers has the 2.0 4xe and loves it and also has had zero issues. Pluses and minuses to both, but I think you simply need to drive both (extensively) to know what you prefer and go with it.Outside of gas mileage, any downside to the 3.6 vs 2.0?
Actually, I told YOU that. Though it doesn't surprise me that you didn't read it.Make sure you go to something like https://www.buymoparwarranty.com/ beforehand if you're considering an extended warranty. That's where they make a big chunk of their profit (but don't tell @TheRaven that).
An interesting realization came to me on this past Sunday...since the Maxcare policy I purchased for my 2021 is up at the end of this year, I either need to re-up or trade-up so i've been shopping, and once again pretty much everything on the lot is 2.0 or 4xe, so we've been driving a lot of 2.0's, so i've also had to listen to my wife rant about how much the 2.0 sucks...but anyway, i've come to the realization that I hate both engines. I'm fatigued from having to worry about every single noise that sounds like it could be a tick coming from my 66k mile 3.6 (as it approaches the ever-ominous 80k mark), and also wondering how big of a repair bill that eTorque system is going to earn me some day...but at the same time despising the evil racket that the 2.0 makes and thinking about what it would be like to have to constantly check the floor/ground underneath the Jeep and pray I don't see any pink puddles. There just isn't a good option here. And no, spending $100k on a Jeep just to get a 392 is NOT a good option.Agreed, definitely comes down to personal preference and you will get a million different opinions, that’s why you should try both.
Personally have had two pentastars, but much prefer the 2.0
My 3.0 is pretty awesome. But, of course, the ludicrous emissions on it will likely take it out of commission.Actually, I told YOU that. Though it doesn't surprise me that you didn't read it.

And also the fact that it's going to quickly become "unsupported". Given proper support and time to mature, it may have become the best Wrangler engine. But it never got that chance. My 3.0 is pretty awesome. But, of course, the ludicrous emissions on it will likely take it out of commission.
What exactly do you get for the $1500 "safe and secure package"?Well, the original dealer would not honor their price. This is what I actually bought. Not feeling as great about the deal, but the other deal wasn't real, so there's that.
