First time Jeep buyer. Is $51,836.50 a good price for the vehicle below?

I would say pretty good. Similar deals in the Salt Lake City area for jeeps on the lot.

Bigger question is…’do you like that Jeep enough to pay for it?’

If you answer is yes, then go for it. You’ll love it.

I rented one in SLC for a week and drove all over Utah. I fell in love with the Jeep. Utah too.

It was only a 2.0L, but I am fixing that with this build and the V6 3.6L.

After I get it I need to head back out to Utah.

Overall, not a bad deal IF they don't hit you with a ton of dealer-installed add-ons and fees when you go to do the final transaction. So many dealerships do that these days and it ticks me off. I have taken the stance that if they don't take those out of the mix right up front I'm walking. It's always nice to be in the position of a) having done your research on every aspect of the vehicle so that you know more than the salesperson and b) you don't HAVE to purchase that Jeep today and are truly willing to go elsewhere. For example, as much as I wanted to purchase our second Wrangler (a 2024) here in Texas, I could not for the life of me find a dealer willing to go the level that a great Florida dealer did. As a result, I bought it from the Florida dealer (who didn't play the add-on game and was transparent up-front about its fees) and had it trucked here to San Antonio. It was STILL cheaper than buying in-state. Sad, but true...

If you haven’t, I would suggest test driving a 3.6 as well.

Outside of gas mileage, any downside to the 3.6 vs 2.0?

There are a million threads on the 2.0 vs. 3.6 subject. Having read so many of them I have come to the (obvious) conclusion that it comes down to personal preference. Advocates on both sides will plant their flag and say their engine is best and the other is crap for x, y, and z reasons. Reality is that forums generally attract strong opinions in both directions, though a lot of useful helpful hints are also to be found. On the engines, having now owned two JLs with 3.6s and no issues, I very much like it. One of my brothers has the 2.0 4xe and loves it and also has had zero issues. Pluses and minuses to both, but I think you simply need to drive both (extensively) to know what you prefer and go with it. 👍

Agreed, definitely comes down to personal preference and you will get a million different opinions, that’s why you should try both.

Personally have had two pentastars, but much prefer the 2.0

I had a salesman trying to push the 2.0 on me (because it's all he had to sell). This was how the conversation ended.

Make sure you go to something like https://www.buymoparwarranty.com/ beforehand if you're considering an extended warranty. That's where they make a big chunk of their profit (but don't tell @TheRaven that).
Actually, I told YOU that. Though it doesn't surprise me that you didn't read it.

An interesting realization came to me on this past Sunday...since the Maxcare policy I purchased for my 2021 is up at the end of this year, I either need to re-up or trade-up so i've been shopping, and once again pretty much everything on the lot is 2.0 or 4xe, so we've been driving a lot of 2.0's, so i've also had to listen to my wife rant about how much the 2.0 sucks...but anyway, i've come to the realization that I hate both engines. I'm fatigued from having to worry about every single noise that sounds like it could be a tick coming from my 66k mile 3.6 (as it approaches the ever-ominous 80k mark), and also wondering how big of a repair bill that eTorque system is going to earn me some day...but at the same time despising the evil racket that the 2.0 makes and thinking about what it would be like to have to constantly check the floor/ground underneath the Jeep and pray I don't see any pink puddles. There just isn't a good option here. And no, spending $100k on a Jeep just to get a 392 is NOT a good option.

My 3.0 is pretty awesome. But, of course, the ludicrous emissions on it will likely take it out of commission.

And also the fact that it's going to quickly become "unsupported". Given proper support and time to mature, it may have become the best Wrangler engine. But it never got that chance.

It still blows my mind, to this day, that FCA never offered the 5.7 in the Wrangler. They should have offered the 3.6 and 5.7 at launch in 2018 and then dropped the 3.6 for the 2.0t at some point. I just can't wrap my head around not only the original decision to go with this iteration of the 3.6 and the 2.0t as the two main engine choices, but also the fact that they've stuck with that for eight model years and really haven't changed a thing. It clearly illustrates the attitude that FCA/Stellantis approaches the Jeep brand with...just throw together whatever we've got so we have something to sell.

Well, the original dealer would not honor their price. This is what I actually bought. Not feeling as great about the deal, but the other deal wasn't real, so there's that.

What exactly do you get for the $1500 "safe and secure package"?
Regardless of what is in it, I would have walked as soon as I saw that.
