The factory door locks lock and unlock the fuel door. The fuel door opens manually.

No; the piggyback interrupts the factory rear driver's door harness (taps into the door lock/unlock signal).
Pardon this seemingly stupid question but I'll ask it anyway before I buy.
The aforementioned piggyback electrical harness that makes this product's fuel cap cover lock and unlock in tandem with the identical state of the door locks does not somehow need to connect with the tailgate door such that there is some exposed cable that elongates and shortens in its tautness as the tailgate door opens and closes, like (pardon the analogy) some rope that helps keep someone's busted tailgate door closed, right?
The aforementioned electrical harness remains in the driver's side rear tail light cavity, correct?
