There is a button on lower dash that says offroad plus. Press it.

It turns off traction control and changes the engine mapping so that it holds gears longer (higher RPM). It also wakes up the exhaust even more creating more snap, crackles, and pops on deceleration. You can turn traction control back on in offroad + though.

It is basically like a sport mode.

I wouldn't mess with it until you've broken engine in though since it encourages harder acceleration.
I would just add that when on road, I normally then hit the traction control button to turn that back on for everyday driving

Thanks for the great response. I am curious if most put it in Off-Road+ while moving or while still out of gear?

Curious if you've noticed a big difference between leaving traction control on or off while using it?

I was only planning on using OR+ on roads in dry weather. We get a lot of snow and wet here, so want to avoid that in those conditions. But I was wondering on a dry road what differences you were seeing?

Thanks again for all the great input. The one thing I have been shocked by this 392 is all the tech on it. My wife previously had a JK Wrangler that was great, but didn't have a lot of these same options in the 392.

You can press the OR+ button while moving, no problem there!

I've heard alot of people who leave it in off-road+ all the time when driving on the street, but I could never get past the "rev hanging" that it hesitates just too long before shifting and hangs there at high RPM.
I just paddle shift up one gear.

I haven't noticed mine hanging too long. Seems to be just right for my driving style. The sport mode on my Grand Cherokee 5.7 was undriveable as it would just hang way too long before shifting...

Ah, that's interesting to know. I didn't see that in any of the Jeep literature I have read about, so that's really interesting. Any idea why that would be the case? Thanks again for the heads up.

Use mine all the time but just be warned it removes all proximity warnings

Believe it does this as it’s meant for the trails so the alarms don’t constantly go off. If you notice you cannot engage automated cruise with it on.

The big difference between leaving traction control on or off is the computer saving you and/or your Jeep when you happen to run out of driving talent.

I can assure you the rear proximity sensors work with OR+ turned on in my Jeep Wrangler 392. Since I try to avoid making definite statements on things I have not experienced myself I will say I have no idea if they work with Off-road Plus in other Jeeps.

New to the forums but let me tell you what an H-pipe exhaust swap and the OffRoad+ mode can do to that Jeep. Engage the paddle shifters, and that 392 will be screaming and breaking necks looking for the Charger/ Challenger making all that HEMI noise. :CWL:

I've found the proper shift point when messing around with the paddle shifters is around 5,500 RPM, the transmission will prevent you from shifting at too high of an RPM, as well as downshifts at too high of an RPM. The exhaust "bark" when shifting around 5500 RMP is so satisfying.

The MRT H-pipe I have installed for $300 is a full 3' diameter that really opens up the exhaust and makes it far more aggressive without any rasp. It sounds comparable if not better (In my opinion) to my friends 392's with $3,000+ brand name exhausts. I can post pics/ videos for reference. 🍻
