After ordering on July 3rd, waiting for 5+ months and getting zero updates, I'm thinking of buying a 392 off a lot. Found one build that has everything I want, except the off-road camera. Is it possible to add this later? Please note that I'm not talking about some DYI kit from Amazon. I am talking about adding a factory camera setup, with all the integration, steering-connected visual guidelines, working washer, etc.

I don’t believe so, I haven’t heard of anyone else adding factory cameras just the aftermarket one. Have you checked the status online or with your dealership? What did you spec on your wrangler that would warrant a 5 month wait.

I'm just going to leave this here as an answer to most of your questions:
Jeep Wrangler JL Possible to add off-road camera? 1670259050582

Keep in mind, it's NOT a 5-month wait. It's already been more than 5 months and they haven't even started building it yet. By the time it gets delivered, it would be an "8+ month wait".

Both Jeep chat and the dealer are giving me the "we don't have any updates" crap.

Do you order from the dealers people have recommended? If not maybe try on of those to see which gets done faster. I’d hate if you got a Jeep 392 and the dealers say the camera can’t be added afterwards

You might be able to work a deal with install and add it to price at purchase. My last jeep I took someone elses cancelled order with a soft top. I wanted a hard top for it. Worked it into price and ended up getting it installed for 3000.00. That was just added to jeep total at purchase so it really was not very much difference in the payment. Worth checking into.

Yes...ordered from a reputable forum dealer ? Other people have ordered from the same dealer after me and got their Jeeps delivered already. Anyway, let's not get into that, it's already being discussed in another thread on this forum, I don't want to pollute this thread with redundant info.

I get that, I am trying to understand if it's even possible. For example, with some cars I have seen that wiring harnesses are different(missing required connectors) if you do not order certain options.

there is an easy fix for the off-road camera and works better.

1) Get off the Jeep walk the trail, take mental snapshots of it.
2) Roll down the window and take a look out when possible.
3) Tell your passenger to get off the Jeep and start spotting.

Off road cameras dont capture the real scale of obstacles. They're a marketing gimmick.

My 22 392 was ordered on Jan 14. Received it Aug 4. I got an order number and vin with in a week of ordering. If you have a vin, it'll get built.

Front camera is nice to have.

4) all of the above

And I still want one. I have been up many steep inclines where I can't tell if the trail turns, or if going straight would send me off a cliff. I'm not going to stop on an incline & get out, etc. if I have a button that shows me...

I’d like to hear from someone who added it.

Not sure it’s the same quality, but Tazer has a front cam kit, got one sitting in the garage to put on.

I believe you’ll need a Tazer, Jscan, or dealer to turn it on.

I mostly wanted it to avoid running over Priuses and small children. It's a useful toy.
