Autopark is only a factor is you are trying to drive with the door open, your seatbelt not plugged, and not in 4LO.

How often do you do that?

I have a Tazer and thought of disabling it, but decided not to. You never know when you, your teen kids or that car wash attendent driving your jeep in/out is going to have a bad day and slip under the Jeep.

Auto park is a (ok small) annoyance for me as well. When I drive up behind my motorhome to attach the tow bar to the Wrangler I have to get in/out of the Wrangler a few times to readjust the distance or L to R angle. A bad day may be 3-4 times :). My other vehicles I could just leave the driver door open, no seat belt, just jump in/out & drive while making small adjustments. If I understand correctly I can actually leave the Jeep door open as long as I've buckled the belt behind me & still move the vehicle without auto park engaging?

For what it's worth, I've used them all since JL came out over 8 years ago and the ones in post #2 are noticeably higher quality than the cheap ones off Amazon. Since it's a safety feature, I'd suggest getting them from Seatbelt Extender Pros as seen in post #2.

sad to think what those features are doing to the Gene Pool.
stupidity is no longer fatal!

The newer generations are much less annoyed by nanny-features designed to save us from ourselves and reduce the number Darwin awards, but I feel your pain.

Hello. I have a 2021 JL Rubicon Unlimited, and love it, except for one thing. The Auto Park feature, where if I want to go forward or back a few feel with the door open it goes into "Auto Park enabled - shift to Park, then back to Drive" - I hate it. I need to manuever with the drivers door open at times, to park in tight spots or to back up exactly 5", or whatever. Is there a way to DISABLE this annoying feature of my otherwise beloved Jeep? Thanks all for any help.
Anton Yelchin would have appriciated this safety feature.

Get the belt extender and simply remove it when appropriate. What I do.

You need to have your seatbelt switch engaged, and then it won't auto-park.

This feature was implemented because a GC wasn't in park and ran over the engineer guy from Star Tek, killing him.

It is an extremely important safety feature, and there are no ways to outright disable it. This feature is now standard fleet wide.

edit; Anton Yelchin was his name.

Due to the shitty ratcheting GC shifter like my 15 has. You do have to pay attention to what position it’s in. Used 14-16 I think, then back a gated shifter. But auto park remains. … After the add auto park recall I now have a touchy shitty shifter.

Yeah brother…I’ve been going through gates all my life with the door a few inches open. The JLUs broke me of that habit.😂

What I’m not getting is Mike slammed the door shut each time, AND buckled his belt. Why the belt-buckling? @2nd 392 ?
Because I found it had auto park even with a proper shifter the hard way and if I didn’t close the door it would slam into park. A quick forum search and immediately ordered the recommended good quality Extender Pro’s. Best $20 mod there is. 👍

Yeah, I’m pretty proud of myself that it only took one mouthful of steering wheel before ordering the ext.pros…..😂

It's easy to disable. I do it all the time... Put it in reverse or drive with the door open, auto-park kicks in. I put it back in Park then back to drive or reverse, reverse engages and it says auto-park disabled... No extra device needed...

I hate auto park, because Im a little bit Monk and used to open the door and chceck if the car is perfectly lined up as it should be.
Seat bell extender is not the solution for me.
I want to know if Im able to turn it off with Jscan.
