That is a Mopar Connected Box.. and it is built in your vehicle to be able to use Mopar Connected Services and the Mopar App with your car.... ;)

Is there an easy way to find if mine has one? This would drive me crazy!
All of us with the 8.4 UConnect have it. Not this device, but an always-on 4G connection to the nearest tower. I don't have any active subscriptions, my XM Guardian trial ran out years ago, and my Jeep still phoned home to Mopar to tell me my charging system was malfunctioning while I was replacing my alternator.

Yep. That's a tracker alright.
Here is the manual on a FCC crawler page:
https://fcc.report/FCC-ID/2ASKHAQG01/5113786
It also has bluetooth for programing it. It uses LTE only for cell radio.
The management at the dealer would be arrested over here for installing a secrete tracker. Super illegal.

In the US.
In Europe, none of the Wranglers have cellular. Updates and stuff like that can only be done at the dealer. We cannot even update the maps.
The uconnect app does literally nothing with your Jeep. Literally no interaction with the Jeep, at all.

If you own the car outright they should not be placing these in secret. If you don’t own the vehicle (lease, loan), they very well may legally be allowed to track their vehicle for repossession purposes in most states.

Again, most salespeople probably don’t care to remove them one way or another because that’s extra work and customers might get irritated if they see people tearing into the innards of their vehicle. Techs likely install during PDI and salesfolk might not even know they are there.

edit: no idea how this stuff happens outside of the US. Didn’t check before posting

On the wife's Genesis, the app can track the car and actually take pictures from the 4 cameras on the outside. There was a post on their forum stating that the tech took the customers car home at night while in for service. He had proof with pictures of the inside of the guys garage.

It kept blinking after I unplugged it so I assume there's a batter in there when the power is off. I didn't dismantle it in case my jeep didn't start this morning LOL. For what it's worth there was no negative impact. In fact the Jeep ran better!! The sense of being invisible was like a car after a car wash. It always runs better HAHA!!

The drive to work today was incident free. And I am almost certain this is a stand alone device. If your uconnect includes navigation that should be self contained. This isn't factory installed, just factory wired for the plug.
