HVAC problem

My heater blows crazy hot air when its on high. If I move down one increment (83, I believe) the reduction in temperature is significant. This is using the manual adjustments. If I use it on auto, it pretty much does the same thing but changes the vents it blows from depending upon the temperature selected so I tend to not use the auto button. I have the temp selectors sync'd; driver and passenger side together. Any help is appreciated as I'm either sweating or freezing!

The highest heat setting is mind blowing on these JLs, I mean to the point where you literally can't put your finger in the vent because it burns. That being said knocking it down a degree or two will take the edge off. You should be able to set your temp and find a comfortable spot in manual mode.

You're absolutely right...it amazes me how hot it gets! Trouble is, adjusting it down produces cold air. Not A/C cold but cold enough that I have to keep turning it back up to Hi to warm up and then turn it off for a while. There's no happy medium.

I have the same issue. I want the good ol hot/cold and fast/slow dials I had on my older Jeeps.

That's normal. The climate control system only goes up to 84 degrees for a maintain temp. The jeep is capable of putting out much hotter air and maintaining a cabin temperature much hotter than that. (Just not automatically) When you set the temp on Hi it basically just sends all the heat it can. When you set it at 84 (one notch down but still the highest maintain temp available) it will combine the hot air with cool air to achieve a set temp.

Agreed. However, mine doesn't blow 84 degree air when on 84 degrees. It's more like 60 degrees. On High its scalding hot, on any other setting its cold. So I'm wondering if maybe a blend door actuator isn't functioning properly. Just wanted to see if anyone had any experience with the same issue and if the had a successful fix.

There won’t be anything you can do to it. Take it in for service.

I had a mobile programmer come and do some updates and the HVAC system was one of them. Works as designed now!!

What? They did a software update.

I leave my jeep in auto a/c at 70. it does everything else on its own. 4 years and its still working just fine

Yea my Jeep is only a year old, the HVAC has been acting weird for most of it. I’ll have to ask about the software update, because there are days 74 auto is full blast at 72 outside, or nights like last night where the difference between HI and 84 was pretty much extreme heat and AC.

I don’t know that there was a specific code they fixed. It was an update to the software.
