You aren't the only one. While I'm enjoying my JL now, with the direction this company has chosen, it's likely my last. Regarding your diesel coment... While I really like diesels, have you seen that YouTuber "I do cars" teardown of an Ecodiesel?? Wow! What a maintenance nightmare!
Not a slam to the diesel owners here, the power output is awesome, but let's be honest, modern EPA mandates have destroyed all that was great about the longevity/reliability of the diesel.

A youtuber says it's junk. It must be true then... ?

Oh yeah, I get all my reliable information from You Tube, right after TicTok.

I watched it... I doubt you did (it's rather long). The guy has experience tearing down 1000's of engines, and and his teardown videos offer great insight into engine design. I'd have to agree with his assessment.

Pretty sure GM passed over that VM Motori design back in the day too ?

Anyone with a few wrenches can tear down an engine.

How many engines has he designed and built?

Watch the video, and if after then you want to comment further feel free. ?
Why bother giving random youtubers clicks just to figure out where they're wrong, just so I can argue with someone on the internet with a clearly demonstrated confirmation bias?

This guy appears not to have any training or experience designing and building engines. If you or anyone else knows differently, speak up.

Who cares! He has an engine/parts business tearing down and selling parts from a wide variety of mfg's. His videos on teardowns are quite long and informative for those who don't do this everyday. I gained a lot of insight on my pentastar watching a couple of his teardown vids.

You must have an Ecodiesel? ?

Edit; It's all good man! I've come to grips with the shortcomings of my particular Jeep engine...
And BTW @grimmjeeper , kudos to you for that awesome tire/gear/speed calculator!
It's brilliant! ?

You are being generous.

The exhaust note is truly a let-down compared to the amount of thrust provided.
I honestly don't notice the exhaust note. I can't hear it over my insane giggling when I punch it.

Good grief. The people who are saying that the guy in the video is unqualified and inexperienced, but haven't watched the video, is ridiculous. I have watched his videos in the past. He points out common failures with engines and how easy or hard repairs are. That's not something I want an engineer to show me, that's something I want someone who has seen it and done it dozens of time's to show me. Go into any mechanic shop and you'll hear someone gripe about engineers and how they didn't think about what it would take to repair the part when it breaks.

When I was young, a straight 6 was what old men and cheapskates would buy. While this Hurricane thing is maybe better, the 3.6l Pentastar with upgraded rotating assembly (meaning forged) and lower compression with a turbo would not only fit but could probably top the Hurricane in power.

I wish I knew why Stellantis has not done this already.

Because the Pentastar is not a platform that can be modified to meet future emissions standards?

They are going to electrify that thing next year, which I wouldn't want any part of, so it will get more power that way.
