I did my oil change the other day and noticed only about 4 quarts came out, after filling with 5. I change roughly every ~5000 miles or so with Mobil 1 0w-20. Not much offroading cept for the occasional dirt road, mostly highway miles. Is that a lot? 2019 JLUS, 3.6L v6 manual trans

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought the 3.6 still takes 6 quarts.
Definitely wrong. It takes 5.

OP, I’ve never had burning issues with either 3.6 of mine but I’ve seen a few facebook posts recently sharing the same concern.

NO! The JL 3.6L Pentastar takes 5 quarts for all trims, all transmissions.

My bad lol. I deleted it. I know my 2.0 takes 5. I was used to my JKR taking 6 with the 3.6.

I've never measured what comes out of it but I fill it w 5 qts and it's right at the top of the hash marks on teh dipstick and then when I change the oil at 4,000 miles it's still right at the top of the hash marks. I go by the dipstick NOT what comes out.

I checked the dipstick on delivery day of my custom ordered 2.0 and every 1k miles afterwards. After the first 10k shakedown miles, I started spreading out the checks. 32k now, and I check it right before pulling the plug. It never budged a noticeable amount. Knock on wood.

While it may not be essential, I installed an oil catch can exactly for this purpose. I'm not thrilled with my 3.6L engine burning up to a quart of oil per oil change.

I have a 2019 JLR 2.0T with about 12K miles. No oil used between oil changes.

Ummm... you should not be burning a qt. of oil per change. I have a UPR catch can and while I do have to dump it out a few times in 4k miles my dipstick remains on the very top of the hash mark. Remember a catch can is not only catching oil, it catches combustion gases and vapors. Don't bust my balls... I don't know the EXACT stuff it catches but it's more than just oil.
The point is you should not be a qt. low just before your oil change.
