I get lifetime free registration and inspections at my dealership because I bought it there. It's probably part of their markup, but that's fine with me because it's very convenient.

Changed my 2022 392 from CA to AZ last year. Had the CA renewal in hand and AZ was $125.00 more. AZ has passed CA in this area of taxes. I was told it would drop quickly. Haven't seen that yet.

Now the property tax on the AZ home really exploded up this year. It's now up to $1,400 a year! (no, not a misprint)

This last yearly registration of 2025 Rubi was $665. No property tax on the Jeep however. Property tax on home including school bonds is $2,660.

I would believe most people leaving California are trying to escape its policies and high taxes, not to take them with them. Me, I stay because the children and grandchildren are here.

Under $50/year for registration.

I'm still kinda salty that the out-of-state dealer I ordered from charged me ~$300 for processing my reg and title ($48 + $72, no weird lux fees) and then threatened not to mail my plates unless I paid them another $100. Literally the dumbest way to ensure I'll buy my next Jeep from the other high-volume dealer just across the street from them instead.

From a fellow Keystone stater with related experience: Call PENNDOT. They'll make sure the offending dealer gets religion on the subject, right quick.
