New owner, first cold weather with it. Came from a Subaru (20 years) and while they never let me down, I wish I'd got the Jeep sooner. I have the 6 speed manual...I wish the shifter was heated like the seats and steering wheel. I tend to drive with my hand always resting on the shifter. Is that an actual thing? A heated Shifter? Really not a complaint, just wondering if I am the only spoiled driver that would appreciate it. I'm loving how quickly the smaller windshield thaws in the early morning though. Huge plus for me...I have the soft top and I'm paranoid about letting it warm up without my butt in the seat before the commute into DC.

Eh don't worry about it, your average car thief can't drive a standard

As far as driving with your hand on the shifter, don't do it! High chance of putting excess wear on transmission. I do it too, but it's still a bad idea.

Finally, as far as a heater on the knob... yeah that's going to be hard to pull off. Best bet some gloves ;)

I've heard of that happening, but in the JL, the shifter is linked by cable, so I doubt it will cause wear on the transmission. That said, I've done this with many manuals and haven't seen an issue. My Dad had a 1980 Pontiac Phoenix with the cable linkage that went over 300,000 miles doing that with no issue.

Slightly OT....Yes, that was the notorious GM X-car. Ours had an Iron Duke and manual transmission. It got 40mpg on the highway and never had problems. The engine and transmission were still good in the end, but the body rusted out.

Not a bad idea. I figure if there (FCA) getting fancy with the “cold weather package” why not go ALL in with a heated shifter? That bastard does get pretty cold when I 1st start rolling in the morning. That would be slick if there was a plug n’ play kit to tie into the rest.

I drive an auto and thought of this the other day. I used to drive sticks and have a habit of resting my hand on the shifter. I did it when it was cold a few days ago and thought "those manual drivers must wonder why the steering wheel is heated and not the stick"

I thought it was silly until I had one in my 09 Ram.

He is just jealous.
no worries on my end. sometimes I use it, sometimes I don’t.

I’ve finally gotten to the point in my life where my philosophy is, “you do you, I’ll do me.”

or something like that!
