Anyone have sound deadening on the inside of their hard top Wrangler? ...
I have Hothead headliner. It helps noticeably with temp control. You'll never get a quiet Jeep but you can tell that's it's slightly quieter - can hear the radio on the highway which is an improvement! At least at lower highway speeds, but I've got roofrack noise too. I liked the Hothead because you didn't have to take the roof off to apply, the instructions were very clear and it was a breeze to put on.

I watched a video of the hothead liners and made my own with the same materials for our 4 and 2 doors, but ours are Velcro so I can remove them easily for cleaning, biggest thing is the AC and Heat do not have to work as much. And they are a little quieter

I did the tub of my JLUR back in 2020. Kilmat throughout the tub, then Dynaliner on some larger areas. I did one door. Need to get back to it and do the other three. The doors matter.

On the roof of my 4 door, you can hear a low frequency booming. It's the hardtop roof flexing. If I put pressure on the roof upward, it stops. I was going to put a rubber spacer between the roof and the rollbar with some upward pressure.

So I recently retired and went nuts on my JLUR as a "sound deadening internship project." I installed Hothead Insulation (These guys are really great BTW)under my Sky One Touch (notoriously loud Jeep Option), Sound Skins for the floors, doors, and side panels, extra 3/8 inch weatherstripping around the doors and trunk and thick TUXMAT floor mats and cargo mat. The Jeep is much quieter below 60 MPH, but gets noticeably louder as wind speed picks up and tire hum Increases. But the sound deadening really takes the cheapness out of the original vehicle, especially when shutting the doors. My car sounds like I am shutting a vault whereas before it was a tin can. I think it is worth it, as you will love your truck just a little bit more with your personal effort. It is much easier to have a conversation and to hear the stereo after the sound deadening is completed. I was petrified to do the doors and the to remove the interior but it was not hard. I broke one plastic panel but got a new one and snapped it in easily.

I’ve got the full hotheads kit on my 2021 JLU. It definitely helps reduce noise reverb inside, helps the stereo sound clearer. Mine compared to a friend with same rig & tires but no headliner at all, it’s noticeable.

I went with Hothead Headliners on my 24 JL. While I can’t say it helped with temp (it’s just plain hot in Texas and nothing helps that) I can say road noise is slightly decreased (although I didn’t measure before and after). I can also say the radio does sound better and it makes a cool spot to mount Velcro trail patches! It’s a quality product with easy to follow instructions and video. They stress prep so I stressed prep and they held up through the summer and show no signs of coming loose.

Looks like that would help a lot but looks like a big job!

Just saw some kits advertised for the first time and looks interesting as I think a bit quiter is better.
Insulation factor in cold weather a plus.
I installed the full carpeted headliner from coverking topliner. It’s better. I have been trying to incorporate the factory dampers on top of it. And it fell off. Don’t know how to attach these. Felt ? To carpet ? Anyway.

I forgot to mention that I also bought spray on Sound Deadener, and after a very thorough cleaning, I sprayed on the wheel wells to reduce the tire noise. I think that everything adds a small increment of noise reduction and the sum of all these things does add greatly to the quality feel of a Jeep. No it will never be a luxury car but reducing the constant tinny noise, vibration and harshness while traveling to and from the trails is a good thing at 75 MPH.

i added Hotheads panels with the accessory Sound Assassin strips to our hardtop, and it definitely made a difference (we were already on Mud Tires).

i did the Sound Assassin strips one weekend, and drive it around like that for a week before i added the actual Hothead panels the next weekend; the SA strips made a quite noticeable difference in perceived background noise levels and Audio System sound quality, the Hothead panels didn't make as much of a difference after that.
