I always hard wire a radar detector in all my cars so the Wrangler was no different. Vehicle is a JLUR in case that matters as I tapped into wires at mirror.

Parts needed
Invisicord - http://www.invisicord.com/order.html
Windshield mount. Make sure you get the one right for your detector - https://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Perman...ield+mount&_from=R40&rt=nc&_trksid=m570.l1313
Jeep Wrangler JL Hard wire radar detector 7E806DA5-DA62-4D04-A189-6642781BDE15

Right underneath the stem of the mirror there is a place to put in a screwdriver and pop the back plastic piece off. Pink wire top plug as seen in pics is the switched hot and black is negative. Plug in the invisicord into the plug. Replace the back plastic piece and run the wire out up the top opening

Nice install. What length invisicord did you use?

Any issues picking up radar from behind you being it’s mounted so close to the roof?

Also, how do you like the escort max? Looking at that one, max360, and uniden r3.

Thanks!

If you want a radar detector with the best range and good K band filtering go with the R3. That's what I have. I also have a WB Redline, V1 and beltronics sti. If you do a lot of city driving the max 360 is a good set it and forget it detector. Both R3 and Max 360 have GPS for lockouts. The R1 does not.

You like the Max360 more than the V1? I have a older V1 that needs updating. Wondering if I should try something different?

No, I like the the V1 more especially when paired with the JBV1 app. But that requires more fiddling with than people who want just a plug and play set up. If you update yours, you'll get better junk k band filtering. But if you know which bands you want to segment for KA and if you want GPS lockouts for k band get JBV1 app to pair to your V1 and you can set all that. (Make sure your V1 is bluetooth capable first.)

Thanks for the reply back. Valentine has great customer service. Even when he was part of the original Cincinnati Microwave Escort detector back in the 80's. Cincinnati Microwave played both sides of the fence then. I think they made radar guns for LE and sold Escort detectors? V1 has a buy back program for older units. I probably will just do that and get a new one. Thanks again.

Sorry just saw this. Mounting position is fine and have done it on all my cars. The Max is fine. You will read a million different reviews and tests. It is like do you like BFG’s, Coopers or Nittos. I am an Escort fan and I have tried them all and had them all. The R3 is definitely the flavor of the month right now. End of the day my Escort works for me.

Wow. Had no idea that radar detectors still existed. Think I had my last one in the early 90s. Crazy.

Thanks for the great instruction! When you ordered the inviscord, did you go with the fused one, or non-fuse one? Thanks!

Thanks for the write up! Can you post a picture of where you actually tapped into the harness with the Invisicord? I tried this the other night and could not get power to my Valentine1. I think the prongs of my cord aren't long enough to make a solid electrical contact with the pins in the oem harness. FWIW, I got my cord from Amazon....it's not the Invisicord brand so maybe my prongs aren't the same as yours...

Fused but I have done both and personally the draw is so low I really don’t think it matters.

i can but I won’t see the car for a week as out of town. Yes the prongs need to be longer than usual and jammed in pretty good on this harness. Usually when I did these it was a smaller harness it seemed.

@Goin2drt Any chance you can post some pictures of where your Invisicord taps into the oem harness? I tried mine from every angle and can't seem to make a good connection to get power. Hopefully i'm just doing something wrong. Seeing yours would be very helpful, thanks!

I think I've seen 4 radar traps in the last year and I love near one of the most speed trapped intersections in Los Angeles. Can't remember seeing one on the highway here
