Curious if this is the reason there was a delay with hard-top orders for a while?

Here's hoping it was an issue they were fixing.

Sounds like this should be a warranty issue and be adjusted by the dealer.
It would take me longer to get to the dealer than it did to fix it.
Plus I know it was done correctly, they had there chance during the pre delivery inspection and failed.

I haven't had any issues with wind noise from the ones I've driven. but, here is my take on this. I am a current hard top owner and my JK top clips are much harder to turn than the JL's. Could a possible little tork on the clip bolts snug them up a little more?

That is basically what I did, except I moved the stops that the handles rest on down a bit. The design is much better but the factory does not fine tune these adjustments.
My wind noise is very acceptable now.

I have factory headliner doesn’t make a difference. This is a seal issue . I feel cold air along with the noise!
Isolated incident. Let's not panic

True.

The way the windshield frame is made, you can have a leak at the top and feel the "wind" at the lower corners

Test drove the JL Rubi with a hardtop yesterday and the first thing my wife and I both noticed was a lot of wind noise at the wind shield along wit a bit of annoying air buffeting (apparently known as Helmholtz resonance) inside the cabin but no window were even slightly opened. The wind noise was actually a bit more than my JK with a soft top so I was really surprised and a bit disappointed. Being there is buffeting means that air is being forced in through a small opening/leak somewhere so I have to agree that misaligned latches as others have mentioned would make sense as being the culprits. I have yet to drive a soft top JL but will to compare and it will be interesting to see what comes of the complaints on this issue.
Second thing we noticed is man the JL rides so much nicer than the JK so now to just save up at bit so I can take the plunge.

how did the pad affect fitment and seals if at all? you still take it on and off right, it’s not permanently on?
On my hardtop the pad is gluded to it, it I took off the tap it would go with it. The TJ top is heavy, two guys can lift it, your way better off with three or four guys.

That is the beauty of the JK and also lighter JL top. If you are 6ft or taller, you can remove the top by yourself.

pretty easy. check out youtube, they’re sticky on the back and pretty straightforward
A headliner that simply sticks to the tops won't do anything to fix a seal problem This is not a "across the board" problem.
