I got this Jeep last year after I totaled my truck. I wanted a manual and Jeep was the only thing within the price range of the settlement and I needed a car fast. I didn't thoroughly do my research and understand what half doors really were before buying this, but even now with the massive leaks I still love them and I do understand I can't really be too picky when I have plastic flappy doors. But I'm getting a foot or two of water in the driver/passenger foot area every time it rains and I happen to be parked downhill.

The actual half door plastic part has been fine, its the door hinge itself that actually leaks. Just regular driving through the rain results in the same leak from the hinge, its just worse when the Jeep is slanted downhill.

I tried to have Jeep look at this, and the service advisor told me this is the very first time she's even seen a Jeep with these style doors. That they are a "door from the 90s and they dont even have a model in stock with them". Their water tech guy also claims he's rarely seen these doors and that the leak is probably its just a side effect of having a plastic door, or its a fabric issue.

I've personally adjusted the screws on each plastic half of the door, and it has solved the flapping-on-the-highway-issue, and like I previously said I've had 0 water ingress through the actual plastic half of the door. Just the solid part by the hinge.

Has anyone else experienced this with half doors and what was your solution? If you successfully got a dealership to address it, what steps did you take/what did you have to say to them? Or if you got frustrated and fixed it yourself, I'd happily accept these solutions as well :D.

Do you have pictures of these doors on your Jeep? From your description, the doors are most likely not factory half doors, but fabric half doors with plastic upper windows from Bestop.

that's what it sounds like, those are known for leaking and plenty of threads on here with people saying the same issue and those getting returned

Agree with above statements. Is your carpet still in the front? Hopefully not considering the amount of H2O you are describing. "" But I'm getting a foot or two of water in the driver/passenger foot area every time it rains and I happen to be parked downhill.""

REMOVE your drain plugs ASAP, until you can find a solution. If you still do have carpet, it will mold and start to stink so I would remove it. This is one of the 1st mods I do to my Jeep(s). I tend to get rain and snow in mine sometimes as well :)

My advice for the 2nd mod would be to Line-X the inside. Helps a little with floorboard heat (not much) and overall protection.

We will need to know if they are the factory made half doors or some other manufacturer. It matters for how to adjust and how we may help in diagnosing.

I would agree with what others have said that I removed the drain plugs in all the floor boards after I too had a puddle in the front seats. I have not replaced them since.

I also readjusted the hinges (I adjusted them when I first got them). They can be loosened slightly, door realigned and adjusted and then retightened. This may help specifically with your leak. Do try and get a hold of the adjustment directions to ensure you do it correctly.

Also, are you sure you have a JL? "Door from the 90s" (+ it being " the only thing within the price range of the settlement " ;) ) sounds like you might have an earlier model Wrangler.

No such issues with the half doors on mine.
Granted, it doesn't live outside but has been on multi thousand km road trips and through all sorts of weather conditions.

If the OP has factory half doors I cannot see how they would leak anywhere near the extent he says (obviously a foot or two is an exaggeration as that would be over the seat). Maybe someone is sticking a hosepipe in your Jeep and using the rain as a cover story??

Maybe the OP means one of her feet gets wet, or they both get wet. (Or maybe the Jeep is being parked downstream not downhill)

OP started one other thread about a newly acquired '23 two door Sport.

Maybe OP has tube doors - they did admit to a lack of pre-purchase research.
