Guide: Wrangler Order, Build, Tracking and Delivery Process

Hello all,

I could use some assistance. I used the tracking forum when I ordered my 2018 Wrangler (thank you!) I have recently ordered my 2022 Wrangler, and was hoping someone could bring me up to speed. As of today, this post has 122 pages, and page 1 takes me all the way back to 2020.

I promise, I've read page after page for days, but am still unclear on the current process. I did message with Jeep Chat last week, but I don't feel they'll be able to tell me much along the way. Seems more like customer service/call center answers, rather than a real Jeep build representative that can truly "look into" and give clear insight on where I am in the build process.

I read somewhere that Jeep no longer uses order status codes ( D, D1, KZ...) but I am not sure if that's true. Any helpers out there that maybe could provide a link to start me out in the right direction? I do have a VIN and VON, by the way.

Congrats on the new order. I'm not sure I'm the one to bring you up to speed. Jeep still uses the status codes, but Jeep Chat (JC) is unwilling to offer those up. As far as I can tell, your dealer would be able to provide those and supposedly has the best information available. By the way, this is what I got from JC today (FWIW):

April (2/28/2022, 11:38:59 AM): *Please keep in mind ***Build time for specially ordered vehicles is now approximately 7-9 weeks from order to shipping, and 2 weeks in Shipping. ***

Unfortunately, due to circumstances outside of my control, we will no longer be able to track orders as of today. Believe me, no one is more disappointed about this than me and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Our goal when we first started this service was to help as many of our users as possible so we kept it free for as long as possible. As word spread, we had to enlist help to keep up with the growing demand. Suffice it to say, it got some unwanted attention, which led to tracking becoming unavailable. I also was not able to be personally involved (as I would have liked) to possibly prevent these issues.

We are going to give a FULL REFUND for anyone that has made payment to JLWF Dealer Guy. The only two requirements... "

If anyone knows of another tracking service (even if there's a fee), I would be interested to hear about it. I just hate to bother the dealership every couple of days.

Just ordered my 2022 JL Rubicon last Sat and processed the down payment. How long does it usually take to get the VIN# from the dealer? for what i see here above the overall build/delivery time is approx 10 weeks so it is not that bad!

It will depend upon what feels like a million factors. I ordered in early October, got my VIN in mid-November, and got my Wrangler two weeks ago this Friday. Hopefully things are moving at a nice clip for you, and none of the options or packages you ordered are delayed!

I also ordered one on Saturday, dealer sent me the VIN Monday morning. I'd check with your dealer.

Jeep Chat will give you the VIN as well if it's available

I got this today from JC. “Thank you so much for holding. I am showing all of the materials needed to start the build process have been received. The vehicle should be entering the build process shortly.”
supposedly I have a delivery date to dealer week of April 23rd…we’ll see.

Basically means you are parked in a big parking lot waiting on transportation. I have been in KZS since 1/27. I finally got an eta the other day. Hopefully soon. 10/8 order.

I ordered a 4 door sport on 21 Feb. Only option I opted for was the Tow/Aux package. Just wondering about the possible wait time on a fairly basic build. Any info is appreciated.

@JacKaL78, I also ordered a stripped down Sport. 6 speed manual with no options at all. It will be interesting to see how quickly our builds come along. Ordered mine on Feb. 17, 2022. My POC has an estimated ship date of March 7 (today, actually), but being the third Wrangler I've ordered from factory, I have learned NOT to hold my breath along the way. The tracker says they haven't even started mine yet, so I highly doubt it's on a rail car today! LOL

It's so hard to be patient.
