Just buy a driver' s side mirror. That is all that is needed in PA. Don;t give them anything to complain about!
If the OP was in PA is agree. In WI it's not required period. If LEGALLY operating my vehicle gives them something to complain about that's a them problem and they need retraining and hopefully some lawsuits for violating peoples rights period. Yes, pulling you over for not committing or reasonably being suspectef of a crime is illegal even if they have a shiny badge and a gun. Even if they let you go with a warning... for no crime, that's unlawful detention. The officer probably knows this which is why he throws out things like tinted tail lights. If you try to take him to court he will lie under oath and say he stopped you for the taillights not the mirrors that aren't required.

New Mexico has one of the more stringent training programs... and it's still only 677hrs. By comparison you need 2,000 hours of in class training and 8000 hours of on the job training to become a journeyman electrician. We don't get to carry guns or enforce laws but we are still required to know the building codes that pertain to our work. It's obvious that a lot of them are under trained period.
Well I guess that equates to a little more than “ a few weeks” , not including the OJT period once they graduate. Do electricians have to take a polygraph, psych test, physical agility test, extensive background check? Then be judged by people like you if they make a minor mistake with some trivial MV law. But hey, I suppose you have the electrical building code for your state memorized, right?
The town I worked in required a minimum of 2 yrs of college.

As a cop you see minor mistake, I see it for the reality of what it is if the guy didn't have a badge. It's kidnaping innocent and free Americans at gunpoint even if it's temporary and you let them go with a "warning" for not doing anything illegal. In this particular instance the outcome was harmless. How many times does the innocent, law abiding citizen end up in cuffs, maybe even with a resisting charge as their only charge, after an unwarranted stop? There's a reason most states don't have stop and frisk laws. We deserve freedom and the expectation of innocence until there's reasonable suspicion. I've been pulled over because someone called on a vehicle like mine driving recklessly. Ended up with the cops gun pointed at my head because he decided to come up to the passenger's side and I'm deaf in my right ear. Leaning over to hear him looked to him like I was reaching under the seat? At least that's what he said after. None of that is OK. Even if it weren't some other white Ford, I wasn't driving recklessly when he saw me. He therefore had no reasonable suspicion that I did anything. His illegal stop almost got me killed. And for what? He can't ticket for a traffic offense he didn't see or have evidence of? No, I'm not OK with any forced interactions with armed and obviously scared tyrants under false pretenses. The risk isn't worth the reward.

They should film and sell copies of these agile cops on the course. It would be very inspiring. 🥴

well I guess you have the complete knowledge of how law enforcement works and there’s no sense arguing it. I’m sorry you had a bad experience during a traffic stop. Have a nice day.

That does sound like a horrifying and personally traumatic experience. It doesn't really sound like an unlawful traffic stop given there was a suspect vehicle in the area and yours matched the description. It probably does explain your obvious bias/hatred of police, though.

Yes because white F150s on I580 during morning commute hours only number in the 100s? Perfectly legit reason to pick one at random and pull your gun on them? Again, even if I was the suspect they were looking for, it's a traffic infraction meaning they can't even write a ticket without witnessing the crime. At that point it is just a stop to harass anyway."Fits the description" is one thing in actual crimes, but traffic violations?

Not to mention the utter insanity of how the thread deviated from OP's quick "Dude these $12 mirrors are a quick, easy hack if anyone gives you grief over mirrors" to armchair legal ex-spurts and not-so-veiled political posturing running amok.
If I see stupid I call it out.
Selfish people who think it's their right not to utilize tools that make the road safer for us all.

Had a couple so I walked to the quick grab for a 6 pack. Walking back a patrol car passed me, spun around came directly at me and slammed on the brakes. 2 officers jumped out, gun drawn Hands on the hood, spread legs … “uhh, how fast was I going ?”… Shoved to the hood, the one that went behind me said “it’s a picture of Mickey Mouse” to the other. They apologized, “you fit the description of an escaped prisoner,
it looked like a
P want a ride home”…..
“Nope !”

Fit the description is their favorite excuse for violating rights it would seem.
