If the OP was in PA is agree. In WI it's not required period. If LEGALLY operating my vehicle gives them something to complain about that's a them problem and they need retraining and hopefully some lawsuits for violating peoples rights period. Yes, pulling you over for not committing or reasonably being suspectef of a crime is illegal even if they have a shiny badge and a gun. Even if they let you go with a warning... for no crime, that's unlawful detention. The officer probably knows this which is why he throws out things like tinted tail lights. If you try to take him to court he will lie under oath and say he stopped you for the taillights not the mirrors that aren't required.Just buy a driver' s side mirror. That is all that is needed in PA. Don;t give them anything to complain about!
