Don't forget, that the fuel you get from filling up at your house don't count against your MPGs.
Only if you're making that diesel from solar!

Side note: people might not realize that all of our energy comes from solar. Yeah, that's right. Every last bit of it came from our Sun. Excluding, of course, the miniscule amount that we receive from other suns.

I was looking at one of those on AliExpress yesterday, but to do that I'd have to remove my driver side ditch light and mount, and I'm not sure I want to part with those just yet. Though someday in the future I think that would be hilarious as well!! ;)
If you do end up getting the cowl, I'd find a way (maybe using a 3D printer) to swap out the door to read "Fu-e" or other 3 letter colorful combo using the same script and blue "e" used for the 4xe ?

In the long term I'll probably end up doing something like that to hide my air compressor. It's a pretty cool idea honestly, it's just an expensive one.

It would probably be easiest considering the electric fuel door for the 4XEs are The same quality of high density plastic that rear fuel doors are made of. It'd probably be pretty easy to just grind it down to a flat surface and then put your own label on there from there.

I have been kicking around the idea of buying one of those 4XE electric fuel door trim covers, and then fortifying it with sheet metal and making my own cowl. The only downside of that would be, I would have to make my own fuel door to match it. I could always do a non-spring loaded door and just turn it into a locking door.

As you can see in the photo above, it doesn't utilize the screws at all, it's just a piece of plastic which you tape to the cowl itself. But if you were to reinforce it with aluminum sheeting, you could probably make it into a pretty inexpensive version of the cowls themselves.

Though I will say, it would be better to probably just shop around the scrap yards for one. In the years to come I'm sure there will be a s*** ton of 4XEs hanging out in scrap yards, just waiting for people to buy parts off of them.

Damn guy, that was a really well rounded and thought-provoking/thought induced packet of information.

Appreciate you taking the time to put that together. It's extremely beneficial with your knowledge having had both vehicles. I never would have figured out that sort of a cost side of it myself.

Yeah I was just taking a stab at what that e might stand for. Changed it in my post so that them 4XE guys don't come out and latch onto that one thing, being the only thing they can actually argue correctly.

Seriously though, that was a good read! ???
not to mention, let’s also dive into what is, at best, an honest mistake of an equivalence:

..Yes, I pay for electricity to make up the difference, but I haven't seen a huge impact there. What you aren't including in your cost to operate is DEF, so we could potentially call that a wash.
4xe battery 17.3kwh
DEF (AutoZone (worst case) cost for 2x 2.5gal @19.99) $40
DEF range (for me ~4k+ miles so far)
BLS average US cost 1kwh = 16.9 cents.

The maths:
4000 @ $40 DEF vs:
4000/23(battery range)= 173.91 full charges to hit 4k=3008.7kwh=$508.47 worth of kWh to drive 4k.

Let’s reiterate that:
$40 vs $508.47 per 4k or $1,271.18 per 10k (maint. Interval)

That’s not “a wash” on charging vs DEF. That basically washes everything(ALL maintenance and potentially then some), or we just use the numbers the way @DewHawk provided, and get closer to a proper comparison that put each really close to the other. Until, that is, the second you go over 23 miles and have to lug that heavy and expensive dead brick all over the place, and heaven forbid go on a trail as it bogs down the jeep, giving the worst performance of every single power train option available. And not to mention when that battery eventually needs replacing. And oh man.. All bets are off when that, eventually.. factually.. *must* happen.

Nice color. 21 miles on a single charge. You’ll never have to buy fuel again. ?
25-26 (depending on temperature) with our JLU Rubicon 4xe.
My wife actually went 500 miles on under 10 gallons and 1 day shy of 3 months before refueling again because it went into FORM with the old fuel.

$1.18 per full charge in non-summer months. About $1.70 per full charge in peak months.
If I had a full EV I could get better rates and change charging to night time only. But for our use, it gets charged any time it gets parked back in the garage.
At a typical 25-26 miles per charge so far (it can be as low as 24 when windy, etc.) that's not too bad, driving 25 miles for a buck eighteen and 25 miles for a buck 70 June, July, August.

It's gonna be wild to see how much those hybrid components and servicing costs are gonna impact cost of ownership in a couple years. I imagine some of the real diehards have probably burned through more than half of their mileage warranties already.
I wonder how many 4xe owners are close to or over the 80K warranty on the hybrid parts?
That would be an interest number.

My guess is we'll start seeing that fairly soon. The dude that runs Jeep4xefans youtube and social accounts is well over 60,000 if I remember right and still racking up miles. He's had a few of the typical problems fixed under warranty but I'd be curious if he actually holds on to it beyond the warranty period.

Hey, if you drive it local only, more power to ya.

I've been speeding since last Friday when I fueled up last. Mostly highway driving, 80-100mph for a good 150 miles of this tank. Did 101 miles yesterday, though that was mostly 5 under the speed limit.

Still a little more than half a tank left. The MPGs there isn't accurate. Probably closer to 20-21 MPGs. Though really that's not bad considering how much I've been speeding.

Been headed into a slower mindset lately. So my next tank will be a MPG run. Nothing too crazy this time. Just 5-10 under everywhere I go.

@Yawnie'sPapa hey, if it works for you bro, do it! ?

10 demerits for using "speed" and "Jeep" in the same thoughts. another 5 for using 100 mph and Jeep in the same thought.
Had you used "race" and "Jeep" together, it would be the padded cell for you.

??

With my stage 1 tune, I may not be quite as fast or have quite as much get up and go as those 392 guys, but I can still go fast and stay over 20 miles per gallon. That's an accomplishment inn of itself! ? ;)
