OK, forgive me if this has been talked about many times before. I went on a four hour drive, all interstate, yesterday. I had the cruse control on probably 90% of the time. My Jeep, 2019 JLU Sport S with 2.0 turbo said 26.3 MPG. I don’t know how far off this is, but it sure looked good. Jeep is totally stock with HWY tread.

My new Jeep is great, but my previous JK couldn’t get 26 mpg if it was pushed off a cliff.

When I'm doing all highway with our 2-Door JL (3.6L), if I keep my foot out of it, I usually get from 23-24 MPG. Most I've ever gotten was 28 MPG when driving around Chicago on 294, as it was bumper to bumper and everyone going a steady 60MPH, being surrounded by 18 wheelers cut down on my aerodynamic disadvantage.

Best,
-Tim

How fast were you going?? I like to cruise at 75mph and interested in what kind of mileage can be expected at various speeds.

No way my 2020 with a 3.6l and 37's is gonna touch that. Lucky to get 13 mpg without any off-roading.

There are a lot of variables involved in mileage. I think my 3.6L JLU Sport has reported 24 or 25 before. However I've checked it on long trips and I get calculated mileage at least 10% lower than what is indicated by the instrument panel.

I am getting 17mpg with my Sport S on 35's with rubicon takeoffs and a 2.5" spacer lift. That is driving around 75mph. Avg is usually 15mpg. Sucks. I only hit 8th gear when I am around 65.

I wouldn’t believe the trip computer. Only way to know is to calculate at the MPG at the fuel pump. In my experience, trip computers are way off.

A jeep going 70mph is not going to average 26+ MPG unless it’s being towed.

2020 JLUD (diesel). Stock A/T tires, ride height, etc. Just did a trip from New Orleans to Tampa and back. Used 26 gallons of fuel each way (give or take less than a half gallon here and there) and 710 miles one way. Trip computer said I averaged 26.5. Math tells me it was 27.3.

This was with the adaptive cruise enabled >90% of the time, set to 77mph (but often around 75 if I found an 18-wheeler going that speed).

3.6 37's 4.11 gears stubby bumper w/winch automatic

Hard top - 16 driving easy 70 mph
Softtop - 15.6 easy 70 mph
Top down - 14.5 70mph
Naked - 13.5 70 mph probably not easy its too much fun lol

Snow last week in the Alaska visits Texas 4wd all the time and pulling people out 12mpg

And by 70 it's 70-80 on interstate
All numbers a little better 55-60

After hand calculating the computer is pretty close with tires adjusted using tazer

Hope this helps

2018 JL Rubicon Unlimited
97 TJ With 33's = 13mpg
15 JK Rubicon Unlimited with 35's = 15.5 mpg
18 JL Unlimited with 37's = 14 mpg

The TJ didnt care if it was going 15 or 50mph, it always did 13mpg.

The JK did do a little better at 60mph, but where I live its either 45 in the city or 80 on the highway, we dont really drive 60mph here so it was pretty much got the same all the time. This was my commuter for 5 years and I put almost 100k miles on it, so I spent a lot of money on gas. I actually bought a hybrid Fusion that turned my monthly fuel cost of $280 into $50 and that basically covered the payment of the car (bought it used).

My JL, well it also does better between 50-70mph, but again, I never drive that fast, its either slow or fast. When I bought this one, I'd be on my 24th year of owning Jeeps, 8 years of selling them so I've been in quite a few of them. So I knew my MPG was going to be horrible. But one thing changed for me in the last year, I dont commute in my own vehicle anymore and I dont pay for gas. So this Jeep is only used for pleasure purposes so the only real problem is to make sure I have enough gas to take a trip somewhere and not run out 40 miles from civilization.

That dash display of mpg is known far and wide as a lie-o-meter. Rarely is it ever correct - most time it reads higher than what the vehicle's mpg actually is.

If you really want to know your actual fuel mileage, enter your data into any of the available apps that calculate that for you. I set up my own Excel spreadsheet and that tells me that my Wrangler, over the course of 46,440 miles, has averaged 16.29 mpg. Has it done better? Of course. Some rides were quite a bit better - but then there were some that were worse!
