I have a 2018 JLU Rubicon 2.0. 35” KO2’s. Front brakes started locking up about 2 weeks ago. Happens when I first turn on the Jeep. Basically I’ll start driving and the Jeep only gets to 3rd gear (RPM’s go up) and brakes lock up.

Basically my Jeep thinks that it needs to brake and doesn’t let the transmission go into further gear. I have to pull over and pump the brakes and then it’s fine.

Went to Jeep Dealership and they drove it and couldn’t duplicate the problem. Came the next day and I drove it with the mechanic and we got it to duplicate. Brakes started to smoke. Dealership said they would change calipers and rotors. They then contacted Jeep and were told to “clean everything and lubricate”.

Drove the Jeep off the dealer and the next day did it again. Now they are blaming it on me having 35” tires and want me to pay for recalibrating the speedometer.

Has anyone experienced this?

I just found this post. I can’t say I have the same issue exactly, but I’m concerned with my issue nevertheless. Excessive brake dust on front right wheel, all others are clean. Dealer called back to say I didn’t clean the factory corrosion inhibitor off that particular wheel and therefore explains the dust buildup. I LMAO and said BS, FIX IT! Thank you for your post and I hope your new Jeep treats you well!

Thank you! So far it’s been treating me pretty well. The dealers are so lazy and so hard to work with. They do a thousand stupid tests before they try and do something that actually affects the vehicle. It took me about 3 months to get FCA to approve my trade in.

The dealer finally decided to change what I had said to begin with and my Jeep actually drove fine after but by then I had already gotten approval for my new Jeep from FCA, so I got the original color I wanted to begin with. Loving the sting gray!

I'm having the same issue with my 2018 2.0. Right wheel keeps seizing. I literally have to coast to slow down as it tries to force a stop with burnt brakes. Had caliber and brakes replaced on both sides and problem persists especially when I run AC for a minute while sitting or driving a distance. Seems like everyone is just trading with no real solution or recall of this problem. Just seems like a money dump at this point.

Is your ABS light on?

Yes! If it sits too long it comes on and then triggers the check engine light. I changed out the sensor but it still comes on.

It went from my ABS light triggering the check engine light to come on, to my cooling system malfunctioning causing the fan to stay on long periodsat a time, then my lights deeming, and then my right passenger front wheel seizing. I've had a thermostat sensor replaced, abs sensor, radiator cooling fan, hoses, caliber and brakes on both sides done and it's still doing it all but the fan is not coming on unless I have the A/C on. It basically is triggered now when driven short trips or when my A/C is on when it's hot hot side.

What is the actual fault it’s giving you? May be a bad wheel bearing.
