News to me. But way out here, and not being on social media, I don't hear about much. I would be interested if you find any details, although I don't like to do mud, which is pretty much everything around here.

I used to wheel once in a while in Cary State Forest, but I heard the equestrians got all the trails closed to motorized vehicles. I am surprised at the lack of wheeling trails around here.

By the way, the guys over at Happy Trails 4X4 in Jacksonville Beach are great. I do most of my own wrenching, but occasionally I let them do some work if I don't have expertise. Sometime over the next few months I am going to have them do a Centerforce CFII clutch install in my JLUR. Oh, and stay away from 4WheelParts over by the airport.

Nice 392.

I just discovered this thread:

Yea, I live here FL, in Port Charlotte and a horse property down in Naples.

But I am a Texas boy so why am I here? If you are married then you know the answer...IF Sally is NOT happy, NO ONE is gonna be happy. I have lived here for about a year and some months. We met in Miami and she got tired of living out in the sticks on a ranch and she wanted to go back to FL.

This is what I/we gave up to live here on about 1 acre. But she agreed to scatter my ashes on the front lawn of the Alamo.

Retired Army, 67-94 Artillery, Infantry and then the Army screwed me over and told me they had a new field opening up and they were going to put me in it. So I retired 15 years later with a resume that would have made Bill Gates DROOL. THANK YOU US ARMY for screwing me over!

And for all Army guys... a pic of me and you are going to laugh at this. This is a GOBI (General Officer Bright Idea). Take a Pfc (because he is young and dumb) give him a Jeep and a Multi-million candle power Searchlight in the bed of the Jeep. Assign him to many many Infantry units out on the Battlefield and tell him to shine that light and find bad guys then tell the Infantry to shoot them over there! Yep that is for real

Hooah, Don! 30 years US Army, and the woke crap screwed me at the end; a story for another day. Trust me when I say I got the last laugh.

I too was FA, later forced into ADA. Started as a Combat Medic and ended as an Air Defender. 7 MOSs total, along with a ton of other schools.

Were you some sort of FO in a quarter-ton with a huge searchlight??? Mightily big balls, my friend! ? Also, I’m just north of you in Old Miakka, Sarasota County, on three acres.

Carmine, have you tried the Hard Rock Off-road Park about an hour or so southwest of you?

YEP, called in Arty and mortar, not often as except when I was with small units like reinforced platoons, platoons + full mortar squad. Can you imagine, it is midnight and I am shining a light on the battlefield...and most of the time I was by myself. We meant to be a 2 man team but I was tired of shipping the guys back to the rear due to DRUG use (LSD) one guy came out and it was around 0200 or so and he asked if there were bees around here no, not that I know.. I am on the light trying to teach him what we do, his first night and he says what is this buzzing sound I keep hearing.

OHHH that, see that flash way over there?

Yea!

That is a sniper shooting at us.

He screamed and crawled under my Jeep and did not come out until it was LIGHT. Shipped him back on the morning chopper mail run.

67-68 I Corp.

Ask me about my ESCAPE from the NVA Regiment of NVA. I was surrounded by a Regiment of NVA and I got out alive. Its a very funny story. 1 man against a Regiment LOL, what a laugh riot!

Thanks for reminding me about that place. It's probably about 2 to 2.5 hours away from me, and I might like to check it out someday, during the dry season. Heard the trails are pretty narrow, more for SXS and 4 wheelers - true or not? I mostly do the state and local park beach areas here in NE Florida.

The trails are perfect for Jeeps, if you don’t mind the branches. I had little to no trail rash from it.

Buck, that was a gnarly trail; you did great! That dude in the monster LJ - not so much. Did you have any trail rash? We are greatly looking forward to linking up with you and Lisa this morning, and hitting a few more!

Hey man! I live just around the corner from you passed the Murabella shopping center.

Hey everyone! I'm in St Augustine. I'm really good with a wrench so let me know when you guys have wrench parties. I do all my own work - except gears/lockers because I don't have a lift in my home garage.

Nice! I haven't been out to Porpoise Point in a while. We go down to Butler and Cresent about 4 times a week. It's 4 wheel drive only right now so it's really nice - been that way most of the winter actually. The deep sand keeps most of the riff raff away :like:

Well it’s supposed to be 4wd all the time but idiots like to test the waters. In the summer sometimes they go out and spray water and hard pack it but not all the time. Since 2018 when I got this Jeep I’ve seen countless people get stuck both at St Augustine Beach (Between A street & Oceantrace (where we usually go) and porpoise point (where we have started going). It’s pretty funny actually. Lol

It can be fun to watch.
Sometimes it is hard to spend the day on the beach doing what you intended to do, when vehicles that shouldn't be on the beach and getting stuck is a constant. I feel sorry for some and pull them out. I don't feel sorry for others (you probably know who I'm referring to) and try to avoid eye contact when they come looking for help. I didn't come to the beach to become a tow service.

Trust me I know.. I won’t do it. I purposely will not bring any recovery stuff with me when I go to the beach.

Also, some need to understand that there is a difference between AWD & 4WD and that difference can be found out during the winter months on St Augustine beach when the beach is not being maintained lol

New Fl jeep member. Currently in the Clearmont/Groveland area. Sold my CJ on tons a couple months back and regretted it. So I bought a new rubicon. Bought it sat, Sunday was in the woods at Hardrock. It’s amazing the difference you feel when you throw a $12k machine in the woods vs $50k+. But here she is I hope to meet some of y’all someday!
