Something else to consider: FCA accessories installed by authorized dealers are also covered. The way I see it, one could build that crazy Mojito Rubicon and have lifetime warranty on the whole thing...

I've never had an extended warranty of any kind on anything but I am strongly considering this. I wonder how often they deny a claim, etc. There's probably a lot of fine print somewhere. I looked all over the Ziegler website and the FCA brochure but couldn't find it.
From everything I have been reading FCA accessories installed by a dealer would not be covered by the factory, nor anything they caused to break. The warranty would be through the dealer that installed everything not FCA. That makes me uneasy trusting the dealer to follow through.

Was it an internal wiring issue with the LED headlights? I mean if you replace your factory halogens headlights with Sylvania oe Phillips halogens is that considered aftermarket too? If not then it would be no different than replacing factory LED or Halogens with aftermarket branded LEDs IMO as long as the original plugs/wiring is not altered.

Dealers will likely try to find ways to weasel out of warranty work if they can I imagine.
The magnusen whatever thing says you can replace a factory part with a non factory part. But if you had regular bulbs and changed over to halogen then that would not be covered as its not the same (regular bulb) as what was from the factory.

Got any links to what you read?
http://www.wranglerforum.com/f274/m...elled-due-to-lift-now-reinstated-1985042.html

"M/M act does in fact protect you if you buy a FRAM oil/air filter. But it does not protect you when adding a lift or any part that allows any engineered part or system to work outside of the original design parameters. You can call your lawyer, you can pay that lawyer bill, but you will lose. FCA has bigger and better lawyers and they have wording within the warranty contracts that allows them the ability to hardly ever lose. Go google and see how many stories you can locate of individuals with modified vehicles that took an OEM to court ($$$$) and then won and overturned the voided warranty. The last time I recall digging, I believe I located 3 claimed stories where a vehicle owner actually spent the time and money and ended up restoring at least a part of the warranty."

Jeep Wrangler JL FCA Lifetime Warranty Question FullSizeRender

off roading will void your warranty.....

4th line from the bottm, k, damage occured through off road use

and 3rd from bottom, any lift kit over 2 inches. I am trying to figure out if running offset wheels will void the warranty. If you get stuff installed (over 2 in lift, CAI, oversize tires) by the dealer and they say its covered under warranty then they are the ones covering the warranty not FCA, you need to either go to the dealer that did the mods or if it was installed somewhere else you need to find a "lift friendly dealer".

I have been looking into picking up a Rubicon. Would be my 3rd and last Wrangler. Last as in keep it til I am dead lol.....from what I have read going off road voids the warranty. As does larger than factory tires or over a 2 in lift. Some dealers that install lifts will carry the warranty. But it will not be through Mopar. It will be through the dealer......not quite the same peace of mind as the factory backed warranty......

Why not keep and put the 33s back on when going to the dealer?

I actually haven't officially purchased yet. E-mailed Tom this morning asking for the full T&C before doing so.

But to answer your question: If I went w/ the $100 deductible, I would most likely not get small things fixed. If I suspect the cost is even close to being less than $200 or so, I would end up doing the repair myself. And that's what I fear will happen: a bunch of tiny repairs that don't justify the pain of going to the dealership and paying $100 each time. It's also unclear if I'd end up paying the $100 again if a dealer's "fix" didn't actually fix anything. Paranoid as I am, I worry about a situation where I go back three times for the same thing and they end up saying their hands are tied and force me to pay $100 each time. Yes, I can raise it to Mopar/FCA at that point, and yes I can always have my day in court, but I want 100% peace of mind if I'm paying up for a lifetime warranty... That's just me though.

^^^^^^ my exact thoughts on the whole thing^^^^^

Just saying.... If someone paid me $2000 to make a few phone calls, I’d make a few phone calls. That’s literally all you’d need to do to make $2000.

But it’s your money, and if you’re ok with that, then alright. We’re trying to help you out. Don’t know how it could be viewed any other way, other than being helpful.

From the 2 links mentioned the $0 deductable is about $5k....is it only if you go through Tom that you get it for $3k ish??

I just wanted coverage for big stuff. I can come up with 200 bucks at any given time, without too much pain. A new engine would be close to 8 or 9 grand. A new transmission, at least 4 grand. Transfer case? Not sure, but not cheap.

As with anything it all depends......I want a Rubicon with all the bells and whistles.....The 8in Nav screen will not be cheap to replace when it goes out. If it was a base sport with roll up windows and you are putting in a after market deck then maybe you dont need the warranty that covers everything. I just want to be able to go in and not have to pay for anything. A $0 deductable would be nice even with the extra cost involved.

You’d need to contact him direct for his current prices, but they are the best. There’s literally nowhere that I know of that offers a better price.

Hi All,

This thread has been very helpful. Took its advice and called Tom at Hayes Jeep (269)- 488-2080 and had that warranty purchased and off the phone in less than 15 min. $2745, $100 deductible. Tom was great and I would highly recommend anyone considering buying one to just call him direct. I am not much of a promoter of services but this was a great price and great service so for those thinking about getting the warranty....this is is the dude to call. The dealer I bought the my JLUR from was selling the same thing for near $5K so whoohooo...love a good deal.

Within a few hours of purchase the information appeared in my mopar account where you can see all the details and download PDF copies of the warranty. Hardcopy still coming in the mail.

Anybody know what would happen with the "lifetime guarantee" if FCA was purchased by another vehicle company? This has been a concern i've had about buying the warranty. Based upon the excruciating wait time i've experienced for my 2.0L Sahara i'm starting to think the warranty may be needed :(

A warranty for more than 10% of the value of the machine? I don’t know how this warranties work but I believe that no warranty covers “normal wear” which eventually all components will have. (Otherwise they will be giving you a new car every so often)
I would rather invest that money in an indexed fund in the stock market and manage the repairs.

Whoever buys the company buys all the liabilities with it. That should not be a concern at all. The only way a company can avoid honoring something like a warranty is to go bankrupt.

I just called Tom - that guy is hilarious and loves everyone here in the forum. Since he's a Jeep-only shop, they're more attuned to our audience and hence the offering. I think he makes money on this offering from volume rather than margin - which is where most dealers make their money on a warranty. If Tom sells 2-3x more than the average dealer due to low price, not hard to make a margin.
