There are good reasons for a snorkel thus why they exist. I don't understand why some want to trash the OP so quickly just because their own use case doesn't tick the box.

Water is one reason, dust is another. Cooler air... maybe of some value.

If you don't have something constructive to add, go ahead and add an emoji so we know you are not a douche bag.

Sad to see ignorant people chiming in on things they know nothing about.

Is the OP a troll, who knows but don't jump to conclusions.

I’m not a troll. Just someone who had a legitimate question and very quickly realized that this forum isn’t the proper place for information. I don’t know why I thought it would be.

Retired from Corrections....I have stories.
I have a snorkel on my Jeep the Rugged Ridge one. I run it primarily in the low mount configuration. Like this. it put the air intake up by the bottom of the windshield on the passenger side of the Jeep. This is great for me as It does keep the Jeep in cleaner air.
Jeep Wrangler JL Factory Snorkel Option? 1745585299678-k5

It is also good for moderate water crossing like these. As the tires push the water away from th the intake of the snorkel.
Jeep Wrangler JL Factory Snorkel Option? 1745585234450-el

And if you do end up in a little deeper water, It will usually wash off the hood as long as it is a quick dunk. Like in this short video. The water is up to the hood, but does not put the Jeep in the danger area for water.

Then when I know that the potential for deep water is greater, I outfit the Jeep with the high mount snorkel. Like this.

While crossing rivers can bring another aspect to it as it pushes me down stream, even though the water was not over the hood, a little deeper and it would have pushed water into the air box with the low side mount.

Then of course you never know with water crossings if they are going to get deeper than expected like this.

I say be purposeful when doing your build. I knew in Alaska that I would be in deeper water. So I ran the high mount snorkel. You never now how deep the water is unless you walk it or drive it. Alaska was cold. So we prepared for deep water.

Build your Jeep for how you potential will use it. Adding a snorkel after hydro locking the motor is no the time to add a snorkel.

Just know that 90% of the time the Jeep has the low mounted snorkel on as it is easier on the auto car wash.
Your setup looks great and I can tell you’re definitely enjoying yourself with it! I like the concept of the rugged ridge snorkel, but I have reservations about the location going over the battery. Many people have said it’s easy enough to unbolt and move and heat tubes to make room and everything but I just don’t want the hassle that comes with it. Cutting the hood isn’t a big deal for me, I don’t mind doing that. I can always get a 2nd hood and cut that one and leave the factory hood hanging in the shop somewhere if need be.

There are a lot of people that didn't mind cutting the hood to install that snorkel. You modify and set up your jeep how you like it. You're not setting it up for other people. I think it's smart you're doing your homework getting pros & cons.

I run skinny tires. I've had people walk up, look at them, and tell me right to my face they can't stand the way they look. I get it and I'm not the least bit offended by it. I set up my jeep for me not anyone else.

Absolutely. People trash talk stuff constantly for absolutely no reason. I daily my Jeep, and my family lives in an area that often floods during hurricanes and storms. I’ve had to get them out a few times already cause the flood waters come out of nowhere and there’s nowhere for them to go. So my Jeep will be seen at the grocery store for sure, also out on the trail with my kid. Maybe even at the mall if we have to buy something. I can’t help that, but I can try and protect it when it’s doing what I need it most for. That’s why I wanted to do the research now before I ordered it, so I feel more confident in my new one compared to my current one. That’s why seems to rub people the wrong way. 🤣

People mod and add stuff to their vehicles all the time just for looks. The angry grill is a prime example. You certainly don't put that thing on a jeep for performance. I don't care for it but that doesn't matter. They didn't buy it for me. I love the look of the military mushroom snorkel. Not long ago I tried to make one for my jeep. It didn't turn out very well, infact it looked silly but I tried and it was mainly for looks. It was also so I wouldn't accidentally spray water in my current snorkel when I wash my jeep.

Check it out. Don't think I didn't catch some jokes for this. It sure was funny though. 😆

I like the look of that and wibornz looks to have the same one. I don't know if I'd ever need one but I think having the option to have a side intake and a higher mounted snorkel is nice.
This is my non-douchebag contribution to the thread.
And hey, OP, if you are going Willys, I'd recommend the XR package and I really do think you'd like the Apex AutoLynx. You are then only a transfer case and front locker away from a pretty great rig.

That looks great. I have an ugly front bumper on my Jeep and get teased for it. Sometimes I cry softly into my pillow at night because not everyone likes my choices.

You loosen up two hose clamps. and you can access everything. It is not a big deal.

Hey Ted

You're one of the ones that walks the walk. I always enjoy seeing your adventures.

I do have a genuine question: I always get nervous with water crossings that are on the deeper end, but not close to coming up into my air box. Do you do any other prep as far as breather/vent tubes (extensions), and sealing other areas off from water?
