So my lease is going to be up next summer and I’m trying to do some early research on my next Wrangler. With the airbags and lockers now on the Willys it makes more sense to upgrade than to keep my current one.
I’m looking at what will pan out to be a 2026 Willys Extreme Recon. Assuming everything stays relatively the same from this year, I plan on getting the Sky One Touch and adding the Mopar Snorkel. I can’t find much information at all about the factory snorkel, but I’ve seen some posts where people say the cold air intake just gets supplied to you and you actually have to cut the hood and install it yourself. Is that true? And does anyone know if the same goes for the snorkel? Anyone order one from the factory and can provide pictures or insight? I’d greatly appreciate any information anyone could provide!

To my knowledge there isn't a factory snorkel but don't hold me to that. Things have a tendency to change faster than I can keep up with.
There are snorkel kits that require cutting the hood. Now this is just me; there is no way I was going to cut my hood. I wanted to play around with a snorkel so installed a snorkel kit I bought from Amazon for $109, mainly for cooler air. It did help lower temps a little but not much. I can go back to stock no problem, this was important to me. There are other kits very similar to this style, Rugged Ridge for example.

Best of luck my friend.

I do like some of the options out there that don’t involve cutting the hood, cause that’s very permanent, but I plan on getting the genesis gen 3 dual battery upgrade and the thought of the intake tubing going over top of the battery’s doesn’t sit too well with me. I’m sure it would be fine, but I’m just not sure about it.

I can't help but wonder - if snorkels were completely invisible, to what extent would their current customer base still purchase them?
That’s a great question I suppose. It has absolutely nothing to do with my question, and doesn’t provide any helpful insight at all, but hey man, thanks for stopping by.

I mean....I guess it DOES help one find their vehicle a little easier in the mall parking lot

Oddly enough however, your response provides plenty of helpful insight to support my hypothesis. So, thank you for that.

True, but most such-minded jeepers find it more cost effective to make their "car" stand out by lining up 75 rainbow ducks (which they bought themselves) across their dash.

And what would that be, seeing as you know nothing about me and like to play hopscotch with your conclusions. I would love to know why you feel so desperate for attention that you have to post random jabs at random strangers to make yourself feel validated, for what? It’s kinda sad man, but I hope the responses you got here tonight were enough to scratch that little itch you got.

I get you’re just trolling, but the market is there for snorkels that are more stealthy. The Rugged Ridge snorkel (and all its clones like Flip mentioned) is barely visible and popular. The utility really depends on where you are/want to go.

Me personally? I’ve seen guys trying to cross a frozen river punch through the ice with their front end. Where the factory intake is located, it absolutely would’ve sucked in water while staying reasonably away from submerging the electronics due to the downward angle. If I continue to do winter wheeling up here, I’m getting a RR snorkel.
