To start I've noticed some issues, but couldn't tell what they were. My Camber should off on alignment rack, and I added sleeves. The Jeep drove fine, but I could never get the steering wheel straight. Today I put it on the lift and holy crap. It looks like the ball joint is bad, and thanks to the guys at Dynatrac for sending me a rebuild kit, but if you zoom in on the video and look at the lower portion of the ball joint under the knuckle you can see the play in it. I was going to do iron knuckles, but don't really have the funds for both. Hopefully my extended warranty covers it.

Do you think the aluminum hole has wallowed out?

Absolutely. It has to be. My cost for a new knuckle is $625 from Mopar of the junk Aluminum. I should be able to get it covered under my extended warranty. Don't really want to spend $900 for Reid's right now even though I know this will happen again.

I don't know if the ball joint is bad or not. It looks like it is. Talked to Dynatrac and they are awesome. They are sending me a rebuild kit for the one ball joint. Cory was great to talk to.

Hi,

Believe the knuckles from a Gladiator are iron, might be marginal cheaper than the AL ones.

Regards,
Jim

i thought that was just the Mojave. which are available from Mopar for about $500 each.

if you can get them replaced under warranty go for it. it will happen again though at some point.
otherwise go Reid/Mopar.

@SadRobot just had Reids and dynatrac installed. then the shop informed her that now she needs something else for the Reids. something to do with steering? he said you dont need it with the Mopars.

I tried to get the cast iron knuckles this morning. They are on a 45+ day backorder according to parts. Remember that I work at a CDJR store. I was fortunate and the warranty was approved. Also, my cost on the iron knuckles was $625. I pay wholesale cost.

Yeah I guess now I need RCVS because with the Reids they have a different turn angle and could cause my u-joints to snap?

I guess I'll test that theory out in Texas in a few weeks.

I purchased some used knuckles off this forum from a 392 and swapped them out with my aluminum ones on my JLURD. I also install dynatrac ball joints at the same time.

As far as I know that’s a big fat nope on the Regular Rubicon. I mean heaven forbid someone actually taking there Rubicon off-road.
