Definitely takes look a this. If you have some time to wait for an order you’ll be very happy with the pricing. I ordered my XR Willys in July and took delivery in December. Ended up savng 9k off the sticker. With that being said. The market had changed and maybe your scoring a great deal from the Dealer. The only thing to consider with the XR is the additional height. If you have short people in the family it could cause some complaints ?. For me it just means more alone time with my Jeep.
Well I actually just pulled out of this as the height will be too tight to clear the lip into the garage. You all bring up great points and I really appreciate it. I’m in chats with the dealership about new options. Fortunately this is one of the featured dealerships that is on @Ratbert spreadsheet. I’ll hopefully grab my first Jeep soon.

Options like the auto transfer case and limited slip rear are assets for safety and usability in bad (paved) road conditions for the average driver.
Not just average drivers. I know when to be in 4WD and when you shouldn't be. But you have to manually do it. That can get really tiresome on steep winding mountain shelf roads with tight turns and no guardrails in blizzard conditions when you should be shifting your transfer case every couple hundred feet.

In severe winter conditions it's really nice to just have 4WD when you step on the accelerator a little hard and 2WD when you're not. 4WD Auto shifts between 2WD & 4WD faster and smoother than any driver can.

Wow, you must have a short garage! My '20 JLR W/2.5" lift and 37" KO2's fits in the standard garage of a track house I leased close to where I am building my new home...I would double check height of your garage and if it is a sectional garage door, there are adjustments you can make to pull the door up just a bit for more clearance.

Ok, I’m a bit biased cause both our Rubicons have the XR or X package. For me, and I’ve driven Willy’s and Sahara, the Rubicon XR version is my favorite. I find the drive very smooth for a Wrangler and I’ve never had issues with death wobble and for what it is the road and other noises are fairly minimal.
Both of our Rubicons are 3.6, it’s just my preference. The MY22 has the torque, the MY24 does not.

So, I’m a big fat yes on the XR. YMMV.

Good luck.

Good catch on your garage height OP! The good news is if you go standard Willy's you can always add nice 285/75r17's (34x11.5) with no lift if you find yourself wanting bigger tires. Then you can add some nice aftermarket shocks that are meant to work at stock height to improve the handling.

Or you could just get a Mojave haha! I'm in a 23 Rubicon XR, it's a nice Jeep :) I do find myself missing the Mojave though...... Sorry to toss that craziness in there!

Happy shopping.

If you want those 35” tires, and you want to carry the spare on a MOPAR reinforcement (as opposed to a better swing-out rack or whatever), $3,995 isn’t a horrible original surcharge. On the other hand, there are many, many aftermarket options, a 9” wheel allows many more other/bigger options, tires have to be replaced eventually anyway, and other spare-mounting options may be better for you.

Buy the jeep you fall in love with. There’s nothing wrong with what you’ve described here, but there’s nothing extraordinary either. I’d do as @Ratbert suggested. As inventories continue to climb we’ll be seeing better and better deals on new jeeps. They have new warranties too, which is something I value more than ever before.

Last thought: the Mahindra pressure may well push jeep to deliver on “Shortcut”. If you want a simple, capable, inexpensive jeep, that may be the winner. I already want one.
Just want to comment on the MOPAR swing gate reinforcement.... It is not great, I was surprised how much my spare rattles the swing gate as I expected it would be better than when I had heavier tires on my JK's with the stock carrier... but seems like the same crap.

Other than that I think the XR package is pretty good!

I’d go for it. Having 35s and the gearing from the factory is nice. Not to mention the fender flare extensions and spare tire reinforcement.

Buy what you can afford and buy which ever jeep you like. IMO they're both great Jeeps.

Happy Trails Bro ?

The swing gate reinforcement is actually pretty good...I have it along with the Teraflex HD Alpha carrier and everything is rock solid with 37x12.50 KO2 D's. Unless you are running something larger than 37's it is likely an adjustment / fitment with your wheel/tires and poor contact with the bump stops between tire and tailgate.

Mine is the factory installed one with the XR package with the factory installed wheels and C rated BFG tires. It doesn't do anything for the hinges. I expected better.

Wondering why you would run that with the Teraflex if the factory component is good? Monster tires?!?

My JLR came with 33" tires, I knew I was going to go larger tires so ordered it with the tailgate hinge reinforcement. I needed an adjustable carrier as the standard carrier would not fit the 37x12.50R17 KO2 D and 17x8.5 Mopar wheels properly. I can only comment on the tailgate reinforcement and it works great with the Teraflex.

Still surprised you're having trouble with the carrier included with the XR package, might have the dealer check to make sure everything is tight and properly adjusted.

Been looking to get my first Jeep and set on Willys pkg and most likely have to go pre owned. Been searching prices engines etc for months as I was waiting for taxes done to see what I could grab. That said, I recently put a deposit on a 23 extreme recon. Never even considered as I liked the look of the standard Willys pkg. I never figured to be going off road much but famous last words. That said, this one has lower mileage and priced lower than the standard Willys I’ve been seeing. It has the 3.6. Would I be a fool not to grab it? The factory pkg seems to be a great value provided I use this as intended. Ha
I have the 24 Rubicon XR and absolutely love it. On road and off road are fantastic. I recommend the XR without hesitation.

if you don’t plan to extensively modify your Jeep then by all means get it. It’s a great package. However if you want to do a lift bigger tires etc I would skip.

The XR package and V6 were must haves for me. I am very satisfied with the combo.

Sorry to be a nay sayer here, but do you like the vision of going off-road vs actually doing it? There are much better cars to own for pavement princess duty (no hate there, I love driving my wife's BMW on road). Unless you intend on using the Wrangler to go off-road, highly recommend picking something else. My best friend bought a Sahara, it NEVER gets used off-road. He would've been better off buying a BMW.
