Looking for some ideas here. I don't have a roof rack, and I have a 392 with the camera in the rear tire so tire mount is out.

Was thinking maybe something like this and then mount the boards to the Hi-Lift?

Here is another expensive option. I just went this route not knowing I had to buy an extra adapter plate and mounting pins. TrailRax.com

American Adventure Lab Spare Tire Platform has a solution, it isn’t cheap but it’s nice to have extra storage as well

I like the TrailRax @dragoneggs mentioned but based on my barely being able to clear my rear doors with the rotopax on, I don’t think you could mount maxtrax on them and still open the rear doors on a 4 door. Just a heads up if you’ve got a 4 door and are considering this route, make sure you confirm compatibility.

There's the other spare tire ratchet strap rack company that's a fraction of the cost of that max trax rack .. rock slide maybe ?... Something like that... I don't remember the name but someone here will and you can fab up a bracket for traction boards for a few bucks with parts from Home Depot.

Ooh, good point. I had a set of the rock slide engineering EZ racks on my last rig. It would require a bracket for sure, and if you could use both mount points from the EZ rack it should be pretty secure ?

Are those Milwaukee boxes on your cargo shelf? Seem to fit well. Are they mounted so they don’t bounce around?

I have that hitch skid and I’m not sure how practical it would be to have a hilift and Maxtrax hanging off the back of the Jeep In that spot. Or maybe I’m not understanding what youre describing?

Yeah, the packout stuff is great, they are on the AAL packout mounts, they fit perfectly back there.

Yeah, at first I was thinking of mounting them directly to the hi-lift which mounts to the top lip, but doesn't look like there's much space there. I noticed there are also holes in the side that faces back, maybe could rig a couple of pieces of flat stock steel to that and then bolt the boards to those?

IDK here’s a rear pic. If your idea still allows the tailgate to open and doesn’t ruin your departure angle…maybe.
