It depends on the state of charge. My Jeep had 105,000klm and still has the original battery. Some days I see 13.?? Others I’ve seen up to 14.7. I personally have not paid that much attention to it to confirm any pattern as to when or why it may be higher at any given time.Just looking at the volts on the instrument cluster. I swear it used to be like 14.0 most of the time when it was new.
At this point I will assume that the higher voltage would be when the battery(s) are at a lower state of charge while the volts in the 13s would be to maintain a full charge. If the system is happy and easily maintains charge it may not need to produce 14+ volts.
